On the Change of Learning Temperament

Su Shi said: My mind is full of poems and books. This meaning means learning to change temperament. Su Shi, an ancient poet, once said, "I am proud of reading enough books", which means that as long as I read enough books and learn something, my temperament will naturally be brilliant and elegant. Reading is also called the "longevity fruit" of the continuation of civilization.

How did the temperament change? What is its internal basis? Today, let's discuss it.

In the traditional language of China people, each of us has a mixed nature, personality and habits. Nature is the true nature of an individual who potentially conforms to heaven, just like the Buddha in Buddhism said, just like the baby in Tao Te Ching. Nature is everyone's characteristic, and dragons give birth to nine children, each of which is different. This is a natural difference. Habits are mainly behavioral habits formed by acquired environment. Reading sage books is to awaken nature, stimulate nature and adjust habits, and this process is the process of changing temperament.

We can learn more by changing the temperament of historical figures. One is Wang Yangming. Mr. Yangming is young and mischievous. He likes to play jokes on children and even plays some practical jokes. But since he decided to become a saint, he began to read sage books, and then his temperament changed greatly, becoming less solemn. The Analects of Confucius Luz 13.27 said: Confucius said: "fortitude and dullness are close to benevolence." Presumably, Mr. Yangming must be familiar with The Analects of Confucius, and he also acted as a guide according to the teachings of saints.

Let's further analyze why learning changes temperament. Reading sage books is actually a process of fundamentally changing the three views, reshaping the inner self, and making one's thinking mode infinitely close to that of saints, thus realizing the transformation from the inside out.

The change of a person during the Three Kingdoms period has produced an idiom that has been passed down to this day: Don't treat each other with a finger on your head. In other words, Monroe, the general of the State of Wu, didn't read much originally, and Sun Quan, the Lord of Wu, advised him to read more to cultivate self-cultivation and open up a new world. Lv Meng studied hard. After a while, his colleagues communicated with him. When he found himself insightful, he sighed: Don't look at each other for three days.

Three days in never say goodbye, waiting for each other a bruise.

Metaphor means that even if we haven't seen each other for many days, others have made progress, but we can no longer look at people with old eyes.

Source: "Zi Tongzhi Sun Jianquan Persuades to Learn": "If you leave for three days, you will be even more surprised."

Biography of Three Kingdoms Wu Zhi Lu Meng

The following is attached to the original text:

At the beginning, Sun Quan said to Lv Meng, "You are in charge now, not to study!" ! "Lv Mengyong army has all kinds of excuses. "I don't want you to learn the classics as the evil of medicine," said the Taoist priest. But when you dabble, look over. Too much talk, who is lonely? I often study alone, and I think it is very beneficial. " Monroe began to study.

After Lu Su visited Yang, he consulted with Meng and said in great shock, "You are a talented person, not a martial monk!" Lv Meng said: "The upright people have been watching for a few days. You know how late it is when you look at something so late." Lu Su met Lu Meng's mother and became friends with Lu Meng.

In the late Qing Dynasty, Zeng Guofan was well known to everyone. After he became an official, he spent some time catering to banquets with his colleagues' poems. Then he reflected, changed his behavior, studied hard and made great achievements after Wang Yangming.

As can be seen from the above cases, their existence is the internal driving force. I have a clear motivation to change. In Mr. Yangming's words, it can be summarized as: determination, diligence, reform, and responsibility for goodness. So as to realize the Confucian way of respecting oneself and treating others. That is, the second of the eight orders mentioned in the University.

Therefore, learning to change temperament is by no means empty talk, and on this basis, directly refute fatalism. Life is born, but fate is changed by the heart, which also explains the theoretical logic of the sentence "My life is not determined by heaven". Therefore, when people are ugly, they should study more. Learning can change their temperament. Practice has proved to be sacred.

Wang Guowei used the words of the ancients to describe the three realms of learning, namely:

1. The west wind withered the green trees last night. A person in a tall building can see the end of the world. This is an exploration stage, and we need to seek the foundation from outside.

I don't regret that my belt has widened. It's worth getting tired for my coquetry. At this stage of internal repair, we must work all day, and we must be diligent. Only by laying a solid foundation and repairing the Yuan Dynasty can we be thoroughly remoulded.

3. Look for him in the crowd. Looking back suddenly, the man was in the dim light. This is where you can't find iron shoes, and you can get them as easy as blowing off dust. This is a process from quantitative change to qualitative change. Mr. Yangming's enlightenment in Longchang is an explosion accumulated before. Belongs to the third realm, freedom. From now on, don't go beyond the rules.

Everything should start from now on, learning to change temperament, and starting with determination to study hard, so as to spiral up, improve Yuan Henry's chastity, constantly break through himself and finally become a road.
