The current situation and improvement of Gansu literature: still water runs deep and is ready to go. Regional cultural differences are a rich mine for literature
In the 1980s , a magazine sponsored by the Gansu Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles, has become very popular. It stands on three pillars with "Literary Review" and "Research on Literary Theory". It is unique and sensitive. It is at the forefront of the times, paying attention to and guiding the literary and artistic trends of the time. This is "Contemporary Literature and Art". Trends of Thought". A large number of nationally renowned literary theorists have published articles in this journal, and Xu Jingya's "The Rising Group of Poems" also came out of here, thus promoting the development of a poetry school. Gansu also became an important city for literature and art at that time. More than thirty years have passed, and Gansu has produced many outstanding writers and critics, but it is undeniable that its former glory is no longer there. What is the problem? What are the advantages of creation in Gansu Province? Where will it go?
While "postmodern" has become an outdated term, most of Gansu is still in "pre-modern". Yang Guangzu, vice chairman of the Gansu Provincial Literary Critics Association, said frankly that the first characteristic of Gansu literature is its local flavor. However, it does not mean that the more national it is, the more global it is. To write about the deep characteristics of various places in Gansu, writers need to have deep knowledge. If there is no "cosmopolitan" as a prerequisite for cultural accomplishment and broad vision, nationality and locality, then it is of little value. Most writers in Gansu come from rural areas. Their identity as farmers gives them both inherent advantages and great disadvantages. For example, they are easily captured by fame and fortune. Their creations have strong realistic appeals, whether they reflect deeply on local culture or think about the modernization of national culture. Neither is enough, and the road to greatness is even more difficult. He emphasized that a writer should not write for a region or a type of people, but should write for mankind and his own soul. He should have a broad vision and mind and should not limit himself innately. ?We If we don’t take advantage of the right time and place, if we start from ourselves, miracles will happen?
Not only is this the case with local-themed creations, but there are also problems with urban image construction. Guo Maoquan, associate professor at the School of Liberal Arts of Lanzhou University, pointed out that when Gansu literature expresses cities, it has rural writers’ sense of unfamiliarity with urban culture and their inherent rural sentiments. Even rural writers in the city are constantly repeating rural stories. "Is it sitting on a city building, looking at the countryside in the distance, remembering the countryside?" It is more common to reflect urban civilization diseases, and is more concerned about officialdom or university life. He proposed that looking at the city should be in-depth, all-round, and multi-angle, and more attention should be paid to the citizens. Without paying attention to the citizens, the spiritual construction of the city cannot be truly completed.
Why is it so difficult for us to produce good works? Writer Yi Zhou said that it may indeed have something to do with the writer not writing well enough, but it also has to do with the remote location. If Gansu writers and poets can gain a certain reputation across the country, It must have been written stroke by stroke. This kind of arduous and even haggard training for many years is not a bad thing for Gansu writers. ?We are a little more neglected in this era, and we may be purer in terms of creative spirit and research spirit? Some critics also believe that the reason for the lack of confidence in Gansu literature is that the direction is wrong, there is insufficient accumulation of experience, education and other aspects, the mentality is eager for quick success, and there is no preparation for a long voyage. No matter where it is. In addition, there is no nationally influential literary media in Gansu to provide a platform and position for writers and critics. Currently, there are only two officially published literary journals, namely "Feitian" and "Northern Writers". " is an internal publication, and prefecture and city literary publications are also private and internal publications. Without a publication number, they have no right to speak across the country, and writers cannot express their voices well.
Is it really true that the region is remote and the culture is poor? On the other hand, Gansu is rich in cultural resources and needs to be explored. Quan Huijin pointed out that Gansu has been a place where many ethnic groups meet for thousands of years. The differences and richness of Gansu's regional culture are the rich minerals of Gansu literature, rather than factors that restrict the development of Gansu literature. Yang Jianjun also emphasized that it doesn’t matter whether you write about the countryside or the city. What is important is that the life experience of Gansu people can provide answers to the current people’s living difficulties. We should have confidence in this land. Yang Guangzu also clearly saw that Gansu has a rich cultural heritage, but what it lacks is people who have the patience and the willingness to be lonely to tap local resources. The writer Yang Xianhui is no longer in Gansu, but he comes to Gansu at his own expense every year, visits Hexi, Dingxi, and Gannan, and has written excellent works such as "Jiabiangou Chronicles", "Dingxi Orphanage Chronicles" and "Gannan Chronicles". If they calm down, Gansu writers can write more wonderful works.
