What is the research status of Chopin's first ballad (ballad in G minor) at home and abroad?
At present, there is a consistent view that Chopin's ballads are related to some romantic poems. As far as the first ballad is concerned (it is relatively certain now), its creative inspiration comes from the long poem "Conrad Valenrod" written by Polish poet Mickiewicz, which tells the story that Conrad Valenrod is lurking in the enemy camp, actively preparing to recover the motherland and finally dying, which is deeply consistent with Chopin's patriotic feelings.
