Random thoughts on Xuanzang's road 1 Several monasteries play Sanskrit, and a little calligraphy goes back to the city to learn Buddhist scriptures. The misty rain is boundless, the Buddha is famous, the Buddhism is like a lotus, and the treasure is solemn. Among the thousands of temples and the endless Galand, there seems to be a devout monk, walking slowly towards the bright west with small but firm steps. He is Xuanzang.
When he solemnly walked to Jingtu Temple for the first time, he must have known his life track in his heart. A childish face with firm eyes. When he saluted the magnificent and exquisite Buddha statue for the first time, there must be a bright light in the darkness, guiding him step by step on the path of Buddhism. He knows exactly where he is going and what he is pursuing. He knew that he would go back and forth between one temple and another in Galand and carry forward Buddhism.
After repeated study, he really felt that the theory was not refined and the translation was not accurate. He is determined to set foot on the road of Nalanduo Temple alone and make contributions to Buddhism in the Tang Dynasty. He went to the mysterious western regions alone with his luggage and a thin mare. He was warmly received, honored as a guest of honor and regarded as a saint; He was caught and robbed, but he finally escaped. He once lost his way in the hot and desolate desert; He once suffered from severe cold on a snowy mountain thousands of miles away. He tried his best to escape from the king's territory. He once read Buddha devoutly and fled from the savage's territory. All kinds of hardships and temptations failed to stop the devout monk from going west. On the way to the west, overlooking the west, he saw the Buddhist mantra shining in the light, which was the westbound avenue under the shade of sand. His heart is sacred and inviolable Buddhism, just like a bright lamp illuminating the road to the west.
At Narando Temple, he received a very warm welcome. He studied hard under famous families. He walked past the tall Buddha statue and walked towards the beautiful Buddha country. He discussed the scriptures with the masters and taught Buddhism to his disciples. His erudition won him great honor. He often looks east at the direction of the Tang Dynasty. He knew it was far from his destination. It was his original intention to obtain the true scriptures, promote Buddhism and benefit the Tang Dynasty.
He returned to his native land once again. The emperor used power and money to persuade him to be secular. But he refused again and again. He only has the purest Buddhism in his heart. In Hongfu Temple, he organized the translation of scriptures. At the beginning of the morning, the fog began to rise, and in the afternoon of the third grade and the evening of the end of the month, he sat at the table with a fluorescent lamp and read a bay leaf carefully. He wrote the deepest Buddhism in calligraphy, and he lit up the long road in the future with a bright lamp. He is like a bright star that illuminates the path of Buddhism. Late at night, he wrote the most beautiful chapter of Buddhism.
Countless times, facing the flashing Sanskrit symbols in ancient Austria under the flashing lights, his energy was finally exhausted. That was the last time he worshipped Buddha. He bowed deeply to the solemn Buddha statue. His mentality is very calm, as calm as one, just like a devout teenager who worships Buddha for the first time. At that moment, there must be something in his heart, but at the moment of turning his head, he sighed and put it down. Wandering between ancient buddhas all his life, he finally went to the west in a wonderful and beautiful dream. On his deathbed, Xuanzang believed that he could become a Buddha.
In fact, each of us is Xuanzang, walking on his own Xuanzang road. Although the goal of success seems far away, you can certainly achieve it as long as you make up your mind. Some people may be content with the present situation of Jingtu Temple; Some people may shrink back because they are afraid of the difficulties on the westbound road; There may be people who are complacent in Nalanda; Some people may intrigue for official positions ... all kinds of dangers and temptations. Only by keeping the truth can they become Buddhas.
The next temple, the next Galand, is waiting for us in the distance.
I watched the documentary "The Road of Xuanzang" during the eleventh holiday, which made me know a different Tang priest and was deeply moved and shocked by it!
Master Xuanzang has been praised and admired by people for thousands of years. He was called "the backbone of the Chinese nation" by Mr. Lu Xun, "a romantic figure through the ages" by Mr. Liang Qichao and "a national treasure" by Mr. Tang Gaozong. Later generations called him an explorer, traveler, philosopher, translator and religionist. This is not an exaggeration. It is the embodiment of Buddha and Bodhisattva in my heart.
As a Buddhist, what makes me sigh is the power of a kind of faith embodied in Master Xuanzang, that is, his original intention of "coming from afar and staying close to the Buddha" at the beginning of becoming a monk. It is his steadfastness in Do not forget your initiative mind that made him "rather die in the West than live in the East" on the way to learn from the scriptures. In the face of the "border prohibition order", he did not hesitate to sneak into Guazhou and cross the desert. He is not afraid of difficulties; Faced with Gao's retention, he went on a hunger strike. After passing through mountains, grasslands and snow-capped mountains, he survived; In the face of fame and kindness, he resolutely left Tianzhu without hesitation ... This is Master Xuanzang, who is not afraid of difficulties, not for fame and fortune, but for faith. He went through a lot of hardships to study the scriptures, and he worked hard to translate them.
In the process of reading "The Road of Xuanzang", I shed tears several times, lamenting the hardships of ancestors going west to seek the Dharma and the spiritual strength of forgetting myself for the Dharma. I think all this stems from the belief in Buddhism, and it is also a kind of responsibility, and the desire born from it-to explore the origin of Buddhism, to dispel doubts, and to swear to go westward regardless of life safety. This is the power born in Buddhist belief to defend at the cost of life, that is, "study Buddhism far away and stay in Buddhism near" Isn't this a vivid portrayal of "spreading dharma for housework and benefiting students for career"?
Compared with the mage, what about us? Now you don't have to worry about the rarity of Buddhist scriptures. Just open the webpage and visit the temples and bookstores. It's too easy to get. Where is my confidence? Needless to say, I gave my life for my faith, and it is difficult to keep the five commandments. I want to eat meat for a few more years, and then I won't eat meat when I am old. If you want to talk nonsense for a few more years, you can earn more money in business; You can struggle again in your official career and learn Buddhism in a few years! And so on, for me, who has been converted to Buddhism for a long time, what is faith? How much does it weigh?
In those years when Buddhism spread to the east, how many sages forgot themselves for Buddhism! Without them, there would be no Sanzang Twelve Classics that we can see now. How many people are working hard during this period! In the Poem of Learning from the Western Regions written by the master of the Book of Changes in the Tang Dynasty, it was said: "During the Jin, Song, Qi and Liang Dynasties and the Tang Dynasty, eminent monks sought the dharma to go out of Chang 'an. If you go, there will be no return, and the latter knows that the former is difficult. The distant road is only cold in the blue sky, and Shahe is tired to cover the sun. Later sages, if they don't understand the purpose, will often be easy to read. "This seems to be a picture, which vividly reproduces the course of our ancestors' learning from the scriptures and seeking the Dharma. It was felt again when I commented on the master's" The Story of the Buddha ". What about yourself? Have you ever cherished these classics exchanged with life and blood? Is it respect?
Classics are easy to get now, and we don't have to travel thousands of miles to consult our teachers. The mage opens the door of convenience to attract all beings with three-level learning, and how much do I cherish and improve while waiting for the door?
When I watched the Road of Xuanzang, I was deeply grateful to my ancestors, and I was shocked by the power of faith during the period! "Don't relax, just relax." I will live here. "Today is knowledge, this is the only place to really convert!"
Random thoughts on Xuanzang's road 3 For me who watched The Journey to the West grow up every winter and summer vacation, the protagonist of the story is seventy-two changes to the Monkey King, and Tang Priest is just a master who dawdles and asks his disciples for help when he encounters difficulties. The outline is not very clear. This winter vacation, Xuanzang's road brought myth back to history, legend back to reality and subverted my cognition. The actor didn't have any lines, and he shocked my heart again and again through plain telling.
Influenced by the Journey to the West, and I am illiterate in history, I always thought that Emperor Taizong sent Master Xuanzang to the Western Heaven to learn from the Buddhist scriptures, and Master Xuanzang only followed the will of Emperor Taizong to complete the task. I felt ashamed when I learned that Master Xuanzang had violated the will of Emperor Taizong for his beliefs, and had to face the official pursuit at the beginning of his journey to the West, risking his life to realize his lifelong wish. Not only because of my ignorance of history, but also because I misinterpreted Master Xuanzang. When I watched his lonely figure wandering and waiting in a foreign land, where he should go also deeply touched my heart.
How happy I am in the third-level study. This is a big family with love, a place with methods, emphases and atmosphere, which is suitable for today's scholars to study. I should cherish it doubly. For me, without the support of three-level learning, it is difficult to move.
When Master Xuanzang entered the vast desert and quickly knocked over the life-sustaining water source, his despair was unknown. In order to realize his promise that he would rather die in the west than live in the east, he resolutely walked into the vast desert. Ordinary people, I was thinking, why can't we go back and get some water before we go west? Better than losing your life for nothing. Later, I seemed to understand that maybe one compromise will lead to compromise again and again, and the variables brought by compromise may lead to the stranding or even premature death of the desire to go west. Therefore, even if I die for what I want in my life, I don't want to live with it. What kind of spiritual realm is this? What kind of faith? It can overcome the fear of death and transcend the persistence of life.
What I need to do is to attend class every day, to recite the definition and eight steps of "sincerity, seriousness and honesty" every day, and to recite the five beliefs of a healthy life every day. Listen to law and justice at a relatively fixed time every day, stick to it and don't give yourself a chance to compromise!
Master Xuanzang can make the king who believes in Zoroastrianism change his faith overnight and make the Indian princess change from Hinayana to Mahayana. His wisdom, eloquence and attraction must be extraordinary. His goal is clear and his method is correct, so I can only look back. What I know is no longer the handsome Tang Priest, but the learned and wise Master Xuanzang.
What I need to adjust is to settle down in the three-level study, study hard the wisdom of Buddhism, constantly improve myself, and strive to help more people embark on the road of awakening on the basis of respecting the source, including my most troublesome family.
/kloc-went west to seek Buddha in 0/9, and/kloc-translated scriptures in 0/9. He gave up all his glory just to promote Buddhism. 19' s westward journey method only prepares for the later translation work. I can't express my shock in words. It turns out that 19 years of tempering is just the beginning! The last 19 years of his life was the process of realizing his wish. But without all the previous training and study, it is impossible for him to fulfill such a wish. It turns out that all the experiences in life are not in vain for a moment, and everything in the past is to achieve this ultimate perfection.
My wish: I remembered a line from the movie The Ferry Man. My life is too short, maybe I can't finish one thing! Eight years of three-level study is just the beginning. Do one thing all your life, do one thing all your life. With the guidance of the tutor and the company and encouragement of the brothers, Bodhi is fearless on the road!
The Road of Xuanzang (Part IV) watched 12 documentary "The Road of Xuanzang" on duty for four days. From the initial curiosity to the later shock, it can't be simply summarized in one or two sentences. Let's keep a diary for it. Knowing that this documentary is a performance, I met the famous recitation artist Xu Tao. On the train, he recommended me to watch the documentary he explained. It happened that I was on duty this week, and I had nothing to do in the long afternoon, so I began to watch it.
The whole documentary is based on the "Tale of the Western Regions of Datang" written by Master Xuanzang. Describe this historical journey from four aspects: humanity, geography, history and present situation. While focusing on Xuanzang's journey to the west to learn the scriptures, he briefly summarized his experiences and understandings along the way, and also expounded the development history of Buddhism, which brought people's thoughts into the Tang Dynasty more than 1000 years ago and restored the western regions at that time. It is also explained according to the current situation of human geography in "The Tale of the Western Regions in Datang", which makes a simple journey of western learning spread to the east vivid and three-dimensional, which will have special significance for Buddhists and audiences who like geography and history!
It is no accident that Xuanzang was able to sneak from Datang and walk to Nalanda Temple in India alive. Not only luck, but also his own wisdom and belief. Without wisdom, he wouldn't have persuaded his first apprentice in the conference semifinals to take him to smuggle, and persuaded him to let himself go without being silenced by him. Without wisdom, he may die tragically by the sword of Yanqi robbers. Without wisdom, even if he went to Nalanda Temple, he would die because he could not win the argument. Even if he went back to Datang to learn from the scriptures, he would be sentenced to death for smuggling in those years ... whenever he encountered difficulties, he used his wisdom to solve them skillfully. From his 28-year-old trip to India to his return to the Tang Dynasty, he changed from a young man to a middle-aged man on 19. How strong a heart does it take to complete all this?
When I watched movies, I wanted to go back to that time and be a Tang Dynasty man, and I wanted to follow Xuanzang to the Western Ocean. Even if I have suffered enough, eighty-one difficulties are worth it. Master Xuanzang must be extremely charming and knowledgeable. I, a converted disciple, don't even understand Buddhism, and I am extremely ashamed. Next time you go to Xi, you must visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda again. If there is another chance in my life, I must follow Xuanzang's path!
Thoughts on Xuanzang's Road 5 I watched TV these two nights and found that there was a Xuanzang's Road in the Time column of Beijing Satellite TV. I read these things because I was interested in them at first.
I only watched two episodes. what can I say?
It's really hard for Master Sanzang to go to India to learn Buddhist scriptures. What I saw was his perseverance even in danger and pain. His absolute enthusiasm and belief in Buddhism made his emotions seem extremely touching: the sadness when seeing Buddhism decline, the fragility when seeing Buddha Sakyamuni, the belief standing under the bodhi tree, and the joy when worshiping the sage master Nalanduo as a teacher all seemed too strong.
Faith is really a wonderful thing. One can love it and believe it to the point of fanaticism! He can pursue what he believes regardless of all obstacles, even if he is not afraid to give up his life. In my heart, this is a quality that moves me very much. On the one hand, you can sacrifice everything, and you can willingly give up everything. This is an absolutely devout, absolutely loyal and respected believer.
No matter what you believe in, you will be happy if you have faith. I have my own recognized cognition, clear and true goals, and a future that I am willing to strive for and explore for the rest of my life, but what are you anxious about? In this way, we have our own concerns, and everyone in the world has the support to go on. How easy it is to meet, and how real it is!
When I learned that we needed to write a commentary on the Road of Xuanzang, my first thought was that the Xi 'an Xingjiao Temple, where Xuanzang's spiritual bones were buried, was facing the problem of large-scale demolition. The reason given by the local government is the need to apply for the Silk Road, in order to make the environment more beautiful. Although the relevant departments later clarified again that only the newly-built buildings after the 1990s were involved in demolition, the problem still deserves our deep consideration.
Cultural heritage is not only a building, but also contains the breath and spirit of people for a hundred years or even a thousand years. It bears the long-term activities of human beings and has today's style. The local people ignored the demands of the monks, unilaterally planned the demolition and held high the banner of applying for the heritage, with the aim of protecting the cultural heritage. Can the heritage protected in this way still exist as it should? Nowadays, applications for world heritage are endless, and all localities try their best to squeeze into the team applying for world heritage under the banner of protecting cultural relics. After the application is successful, they can regard it as the best means to obtain benefits. There is nothing wrong with applying for world heritage, but if its purpose is not protection but development, it is worth our reflection. When cultural heritage is only for people to visit as "cultural heritage", I think this kind of heritage loses its meaning.
Let's talk about some thoughts on Xuanzang's road.
In fact, after reading these twelve documentaries, what impressed me the most was not Xuanzang's tenacity, persistence and belief, but the shock brought to me by Buddhism. I had misunderstood Buddhism before, but it was only a superficial understanding. I even classified it as superstition because I met many ignorant believers. But after watching the documentary, the feeling that Buddhism gave me can only be described as shock. Especially when I saw Xuanzang giving lectures to people all over the world, people were devout; At that time, people respected Buddhism and believed in Buddhism, especially King Gaochang and West Turkic Khan. I was shocked by Nalanduo's extremely strong academic atmosphere, tens of thousands of Buddhist scholars, and the main hall scene when Master Jie Xian gave Xuanzang a lecture on "The Yoga Teacher's Theory of Land". Monks chanting together in public, and the empty hall echoed with low bells, all of which made me feel particularly calm and open. To this end, I specially found the Prajna Paramita Heart Sutra that Faye Wong heard a long time ago, and listened to it several times.
Einstein said, "I am not a religious person, but if I were, I would like to be a Buddhist."
Maybe it's just because I don't have a deep understanding of Buddhism, and my views at this time are still relatively shallow. But it is undeniable that it does have the power to make people feel calm. In this impetuous world, it is happy to find a pure land for yourself.
I think I am a typical pragmatist, thinking and living between sensibility and rationality, lacking fantasy and imagination. I often compare stories with reality or history when I look at things. Therefore, when I saw the documentary "The Road of Xuanzang" broadcast by CCTV during the Spring Festival, my enthusiasm increased greatly. After all, Journey to the West is a classic rooted in everyone's heart in China. Through the connection with real historical figures and events, watching Journey to the West may give me some realistic inspiration.
The Records of the Western Regions of Datang written by Xuanzang and the Biography of Master Sanzang written by his disciples are important historical materials on which this documentary is based. Watching this film is more moved by the persistence driven by the beliefs of historical figures. It not only has to withstand the test of the sinister natural environment such as the 800-mile desert and snow-capped mountains, but also needs to communicate with people of different nationalities, identities and beliefs to get support.
Some legends in The Journey to the West coincide with the descriptions in The Tale of the Western Regions of Datang, such as the story of a white horse carrying scriptures and a book falling into the water, and figures such as Shipanto and the Monkey King. The record of Xuanzang's Journey to the West not only inspired Wu Cheng'en, but also influenced Chinese and foreign academic and historical circles, bringing great spiritual enlightenment to future generations.
Xuanzang followed the ancient Silk Road and embarked on the road of seeking classics to the west. He is a "master of using language and an expert in describing historical geography" and an explorer, but his more important identity is a cultural messenger, spreading faith on the Silk Road, which delivered wealth. The history of ancient India was reconstructed by Xuanzang's records, and The Tale of the Western Regions of Datang strengthened Emperor Taizong's belief in rebuilding the new order of the Silk Road.
A monk not only plays a great role in promoting the cause of Buddhism, but also has such a far-reaching impact on cultural exchanges between countries. We should thank the Journey to the West, because it gives us the impulse to get in touch with real historical figures.
At the same time, when the British archaeologist Stein claimed that Xuanzang was the spirit of heaven, deceived the king who guarded Dunhuang and took away a large number of precious cultural relics from the Mogao Grottoes, his heart felt sad.
Culture is the soul of a nation and traditional culture is the root and spiritual pillar of a nation. Throughout today's China's traditional culture, it has been well passed down in Taiwan Province Province, Japan and South Korea, while many traditions and handicrafts around us are gradually being lost. If this is the inevitable pain of economic and social transformation, we hope that traditional culture will be respected after this pain.
Inheriting traditional culture needs to be as persistent as Xuanzang.
