1. Meeting the envoy to the capital - Cen Shen
The road to the east of my hometown is long, and my sleeves are full of tears.
We will meet soon without pen and paper, and I will rely on you to send messages of peace.
Notes: ○1 Envoy to the capital, an envoy ordered to the capital Chang'an. ○2 Dragon Bell, looking like shedding tears. Shuangxiu Longzhong refers to wiping away tears with both sleeves, and the tears wet the sleeves.
Content appreciation: The first sentence describes the real scene in front of you. "Hometown" refers to my home in Chang'an. This poem was written by the author on his way from Chang'an to Anxi (today's west of Turpan County, Xinjiang), so he said "looking east from my hometown". The second sentence emphasizes my passion for remembering my loved ones, with tears streaming down my face. The three or four sentences are about meeting each other on horseback. I don’t have paper and pen, and I don’t have time to write a letter. Please send me a safe message home!
Art appreciation: 1. Exaggerated rhetoric. The images of "dragon bell" and "tears never dry" depict the poet's sincere mood of infinite nostalgia for his relatives in Chang'an. 2. The language is simple, not elaborate, and the feelings are sincere.
2. Chuzhou West Stream - Wei Yingwu
Only the grass grows beside the stream, and there are orioles singing in the deep trees.
The spring tide brings rain late in the day, and there is no boat crossing the wild river.
Notes: ○1 This poem was written in the second year of Tang Dezong, when Wei Yingwu was serving as the governor of Chuzhou. Chuzhou, present-day Chuzhou, Anhui Province. Xijian is in the western suburbs of Chuzhou City. ○2 Du Lian: Du Lian. ○3 Oriole: Oriole. ○4 Deep trees, deep trees. ○5 Nodu: Ferry in the countryside. ○6 The boat floats freely: The ferry floats freely.
Content Appreciation: This is a famous landscape poem and one of Wei Yingwu’s masterpieces. This poem shows the poet's tranquil mind; in this leisurely scene of rushing water and boating, there is a helpless and sad feeling that is out of place and useless.
The first two lines of the poem "I only pity the quiet grass growing by the stream, with the orioles chirping in the deep trees." In the prosperous scenery of spring, the poet only loves the lonely grass beside the stream, and feels sorry for the deep trees. Huang Ying'er, who sang loudly, said it was unintentional and put it aside for comparison. The last two lines of the poem "The spring tide brings rain in the evening and comes quickly, and there is no boat on the wild crossing." With the spring rain in the evening, the water becomes even more urgent. As for the suburban ferry, there were not many pedestrians at first, but now it is even more deserted. Therefore, even the boatman was gone, and only the empty ferry boat floated leisurely and indifferently. The water was fast and the boat was crossing, but because the ferry was in the countryside, no one cared about it.
Art Appreciation: 1. Use scenery to express emotions, express the tranquil mind and sad feelings by writing about the grass beside the stream and crossing the boat in the wild. 2. The use of contrast and foil techniques. The poet only loves the lonely grass beside the stream, and puts the yellow oriole on the deep tree as a foil to reflect the author's mood. In addition, the last two sentences of "urgent" and "horizontal", one is fierce and the other is slow, form a contrast. 3. The quiet grass refers to an elegant and indifferent life, while the oriole refers to the official world. 4. The language is elegant, especially "There is no boat crossing the wild crossing" gives people a sense of sadness and relaxation.
