1. Autumn Wind Ci
Han Dynasty: Liu Che
The autumn wind blows and white clouds fly, the vegetation turns yellow and the wild geese return south.
The orchids are beautiful and the chrysanthemums are fragrant. I cannot forget the beauty I have in my heart.
The pan-building boat comes to the Fen River, and the floating waves flow across the middle.
The flutes and drums are singing, and the music is singing, and there is great joy and much sadness.
How can you be young and old?
Translation
The autumn wind blows and white clouds fly. The grass and trees are dry and the yellow geese are returning south. The beautiful one is the orchid, the fragrant one is the chrysanthemum. Missing the beauty is unforgettable. Driving on the Fenhe River in a building boat, paddling the oars raises white waves.
Blow the flute and play the drums, too much joy and too much sorrow. The days of youth passed long ago, and there is no choice but to grow old gradually.
2. Tianjingsha·Autumn Thoughts
Yuan Dynasty: Ma Zhiyuan
Withered vines and old trees, dim crows,
People with small bridges and flowing water ,
Westerly wind and thin horse on the ancient road.
The sun sets in the west,
The heartbroken people are at the end of the world.
Translation
At dusk, a group of crows landed on an old tree entangled with dead vines, emitting a shrill wail. The water flowed under the bridge, and smoke curled up from the houses beside the bridge. A skinny horse trudged forward on the ancient road against the west wind.
The sunset gradually lost its luster and set from the west. In the cold night, there are only lonely travelers wandering in distant places.
3. Sauvignon Blanc · One Chongshan
Five Dynasties: Li Yu
One Chongshan, two mountains. The mountains are far away, the sky is high, the smoke is cold, and the water is cold. I miss the red maple leaves.
The chrysanthemums are blooming, but the chrysanthemums are withered. The flying geese have not yet returned, and the wind and moon are idle behind the curtain.
Translation
One after another, overlapping mountains. The mountains are so far away, the sky is so high, the mist and water vapor are cold and cold, but my thoughts are like flaming maple leaves.
The chrysanthemums bloomed and fell, and the days passed. The wild geese in the northern part of the country flap their wings and fly south, but the person I miss has not come back yet. The bright moon shines on the curtain, fluttering in the wind.
4. Two Autumn Poems
Tang Dynasty: Liu Yuxi
Since ancient times, autumn has been sad and lonely, and I say that autumn is better than spring.
A crane flies above the clouds in a clear sky, bringing poetry to the blue sky.
The mountains are clear and the water is clear, frost comes at night, and several trees turn deep red and turn light yellow.
Trying to go up to a high-rise building will clear your bones, it’s like the spring scenery that makes people crazy.
Translation
Since ancient times, poets and poets have lamented the depression, desolation and emptiness of autumn. But I say autumn is far better than spring. It's a crisp autumn day with clear skies. A crane soars into the sky and pushes away the clouds, which also inspires my poetry to fly into the clear sky.
It is autumn, the mountains are bright and the water is clear, and there is frost at night; the leaves turn from green to yellow, but a few of them have red leaves, which are particularly conspicuous among the light yellow; climb up to the tall building and look around Autumn is deep in the bones; it will not drive people crazy like spring scenery.
5. Thoughts on the Song of Wujiang
Wei and Jin Dynasties: Zhang Han
The autumn wind blows and the leaves fly, and the water of Wujiang River is full of fish.
I haven’t returned home after traveling three thousand miles, and I can’t help but look up to the sky with sadness.
Translation
The autumn wind blows, the leaves fly, and the bass in Wujiang River are fresh and fat. Three thousand miles away from home, I can't go back even if I want to.
I can't suppress the sorrow and hatred of missing my hometown, I can only lament to the sky!
