From 1798 to 1799, Wordsworth and Coleridge went to Germany for a short stay. He wrote Lucy and began to write the long poem Overture. 1802~ 1804 wrote the poem "Xian Zhao". 1803, he visited Scotland, met the writer Scott, and wrote poems such as The Lonely Reaper. In the following years, he wrote a series of excellent works, such as Elegy for Bill Kassel (1805), Ode to Duty (1805) and Happy Warrior (1806). The two-volume collection of poems published by 1807 is a summary of his "great 18 years" from 1797 to 1806, which concentrates "Determination and Freedom" and most of his excellent sonnets. His most important poem, Overture, was completed in 1805, and was later revised. It was not published until 1850 after his death.
Long poems are his biographies, describing his growing process, feelings and thoughts in different periods. This was originally the first part of the planned long poem The Hermit. The second part, roaming, was published in 18 14. The third part, with only the beginning, was published in 1888, entitled "Hermit".
There are not many outstanding works in the later period, but the more important ones are Read Maia (1814) and Dai Weng (18 16), which are based on ancient myths and have a certain influence on romantic poetry. 1843 was awarded the title of "Poet Laureate" in Britain.
