Du Fu is known as a "poet saint", and his poetic style is mostly gloomy and implicit, with few leisurely and straightforward sentences.
This poem was written in the first month of the first year of Guangde (763). Shi Chaoyi committed suicide, Butian and Li Huaixian surrendered one after another, and Henan and Hebei were successively recovered by the government. It took more than seven years to completely quell the "Anshi Rebellion". At that time, the poet Du Fu and his wife lived in Zizhou, Sichuan Province. When he heard the good news of the victory, he couldn't help being ecstatic. In his extreme excitement, he changed his gloomy and implicit poetic style and wrote this famous seven-meter poem in lively and hearty language, so he was called "fast poem".
