1 Section 2:
Clove-like color,
Lilac-like fragrance,
As sad as cloves.
It divides feelings here. Color is vision, fragrance is smell, and they are all intuitive and sensible; "Lilac-like sadness", sadness is abstract, lilac is emotional. This is a symbolic way to write abstract sadness into lilac-like feelings and smells. This is the differentiation and combination of "objective counterparts" emphasized by French symbolists.
2, the third quarter:
She lingers in this lonely rain lane,
Hold an oil-paper umbrella
Like me,
Like me.
In silence,
Cold, sadness and melancholy.
The repetition here forms the rhythm of poetry. Pay attention to the sentence "like me, like me". This sentence is very important. I can't say how I feel directly. This girl is actually my emotional counterpart. "Silence" means that the feelings of "I" are not told, and indifference, sadness and melancholy are her characteristics, which are actually the complex characteristics of "I".
3, the fourth quarter:
Breathing eyes
Use "hearing" (sighing) to describe seeing (eyes). This is a technique of synaesthesia, which is commonly used by symbolists.
4. Section V:
Like a lilac field in a dream.
Everything described is hazy, and all the images constitute an inner harmony: oil-paper umbrella, lilac-like girl, slow motion, long rain lane and so on.
5. Section VI:
In the elegy of the rainy lane,
Remove her color,
Spread her fragrance,
Disappeared, even hers
Breathing eyes,
Lilac is melancholy.
Here, there are also very detailed five senses, such as color, smell, vision and melancholy. , all dissipate.
Here, the disappearance of the girl fully illustrates or exposes Dai Wangshu's pursuit of symbolism. Whether this girl exists or not is none of his business. The girl doesn't seem to exist in poetry, but an illusion of the poet. She is important and valuable because she was created as an objective counterpart of her own feelings.
Anyone who has read the Chinese Department knows that Dai Wangshu also wrote "I Use Broken Palm" to express his feelings for the motherland, the enemy-occupied areas and the home front. It is not to mobilize all feelings, but to focus on the touch of the palm.
I used my injured palm.
Explore this vast land:
This corner has been reduced to ashes,
That corner is just blood and mud;
......
Fingers stained with blood and ashes,
Your palm is black,
Only the far corner is still intact,
Warm, clear, firm and vigorous spring.
The last section:
I hope to float past a girl like lilac.
In fact, the poet did not meet him. This is all the poet's imagination. This girl is an objective reflection of the poet's mood. What's the mood? Lovelorn. This feeling of lovelorn is beautiful, slow and sad.
After the publication of Rain Lane, it was highly praised by Ye Shengtao, saying that it opened a "new era of new poetry rhythm". This rhythm is formed by repeated sentences and images. This rhythm is much better than Hu Shi's Butterfly. Compared with still water, its rhythm is more free, while the rhythm of still water is much stricter.
In a word, this poem uses symbolism, but there is no symbolism of "taking ugliness as beauty". Dai Wangshu is an interesting person. Participate in the left-wing writers' association and translate Soviet literary theory and revolutionary novels. He was revolutionary in thought, but he didn't take part in the parade, and his poems were never revolutionary.
