1921June was established in Tokyo, Japan. The early main members were Guo Moruo, Yu Dafu, Cheng, Zhang Ziping, Tian Han, Zheng and other scholars studying in Japan. Their publications include Creation Quarterly, Creation Weekly, Creation Day and so on. They emphasize self-expression, admire genius, admire self and advocate. From the May 30th Movement in 1925 to 1926, great changes have taken place in this society's literary ideas, advocating revolutionary literature and having great influence in the history of modern literature.
In the early days, Creative Society advocated "art for art's sake", with artistic tendencies such as emphasizing expression, respecting genius and being non-utilitarian. In other words, literature must faithfully express the author's own "inner requirements", praise the "intuition" and "inspiration" of literary creation, and pay attention to the direct expression of personal feelings. The so-called "respect for genius" means that literature is the creation of genius, which cannot be measured by rules and has a destructive spirit of resisting norms. The so-called "non-utilitarian" means that literature and art should get rid of all utilitarian plans and pursue the integrity and beauty of literature. At the same time, they also pay attention to the literary expression of "the mission of the times" and "not hesitate to bombard" the old society. Therefore, the early literary thoughts of the members of the Creation Society are vague and full of contradictions.
In the early days of new literature, the creation society and the literature research society formed a situation in which two peaks coexisted. If the literary research society is mainly realistic and eclectic in various artistic styles, then the creation of the creation society has a strong romantic tendency. As far as the ideological essence is concerned, its romanticism contains the contents of affirming human value, acknowledging self and acknowledging individual spiritual freedom. It is a literary reflection of the ideological trend of individualistic society and embodies the spirit of the times of the May 4th Movement against feudalism and the pursuit of individual liberation.
In the early 1920s, literary creation was active and literary societies rose. In addition to the Literary Research Association and the Creative Society, there are two literary societies that can compete with these two literary societies and have had a great influence later-the Crescent Society and the Silk Society. In addition, some smaller literary societies, such as Asakusa Society, Shenzhong Society and Lakeside Poetry Society, have also exerted great influence.
