Lesson 8 The only way to save-to be saved by faith

Whenever we preach the gospel to people, we always hear such a voice:

It is good to believe in God and teach people to do good,

To believe in Buddhism and Taoism is to teach people to do good,

"No matter what you believe, be good at your conscience."

……

Virtualism is the inevitable product of human nature degradation; Being saved by action is the innate instinct of every sinner. Therefore, one of the most common features of human religion is to teach people to do good deeds, so as to obtain salvation.

There are many examples in the Bible-

Most obviously, the jailer who was prepared to commit suicide by drawing his sword because of his dereliction of duty, faced with the advice of Paul and Silas, sincerely asked, "Gentlemen, what can I do to be saved?"

"How?" This is the innate idea of sinners. On the issue of salvation, sinners always think that I must act, behave and do something to be saved.

But Paul and Silas gave completely different methods and directions. They answered the jailer directly and definitely: "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you and your whole family will be saved."

Different methods are-from behavior to confidence; Different directions are-from self to savior. This is the difference between Christian faith and humanistic religion.

Let's read the Bible—

About 3: 16

16 god loves the world so much that he even gave his only son to them, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

Luo 10:9- 10

If you confess Jesus as Lord with your mouth and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 Because people believe in their hearts, they can be justified; If you admit it, you will be saved.

I. Definition of Letter

1. What is a letter?

1, irrational identification

The confidence generated by human reason cannot save us. For example, we believe in historical events recorded in history books, we believe that the earth is round, we believe that there is a country like the United States, and even we believe that there is Jesus in history ... This confidence is only due to rational recognition and acceptance, not the confidence revealed by the Bible.

Therefore, Jacob said, "You believe that there is only one God, and you believe well;" Ghosts and demons also believe, but they are shocked. " (James 2: 19) When the demon-possessed man saw Jesus at a distance in Gladson, he cried out, "What have I to do with you, Jesus, son of the Most High God?" "I beg you in the name of God, don't let me suffer!" (Kyle 5:7) It can be seen that ghosts also believe that Jesus is the son of God, but it has nothing to do with Jesus.

2, no self-identity.

Confidence in salvation is not self-confidence, not "I think, I feel, I believe ..." It is also wrong for us to put confidence in ourselves.

For example, this river will freeze in winter. As long as the thickness of ice reaches a certain level, people can walk, skate and play on the river with confidence. However, if there is only a thin layer of ice on the river, it is impossible to bear the weight of people. At this time, no matter how confident you are, you won't go for a walk, skate or play on the river.

Second, what is a letter?

1, trust management

Commit your affairs to the Lord, and trust in him, and he will do it. (Ps。 37:5)

When we say that we believe in God, we mean to stop our actions and entrust him with what we want to do and let the Lord do it himself.

2, the letter is to rely on

But I trust in your lovingkindness, and my heart rejoices in your salvation. (Poetry 13:5)

Relying on means that we believe that God is our solid backing. Just like sitting in a chair and leaning back peacefully, it is as relaxed and natural.

3. Letters are receptions.

He gave power to all who received him and believed in his name, making them children of God. (about 1: 12)

Believing in God means putting God in your heart, and always keeping God in your heart. Just like, parents always think about their children, and children often think about their parents.

This letter is decisive.

1 Faith is the expected truth and the unseen evidence. (Lai 1 1: 1)

According to this meaning, it is proof and basis. A letter is an affirmation of your future hopes. Although you didn't see it, you have proof and guarantee. For example, when we see the dark clouds on the horizon, we can be sure that it will rain soon.

5, the letter is the pipeline.

Faith itself can't save us, it's just a tool, means and channel for us to accept redemption. For example, we get water from the waterworks through water pipes. Water pipes don't produce water, but we can't get water without them.

Without faith, one cannot please God. Because those who come before God must believe in God and that he rewards those who seek him. (Lai 1 1:6)

Second, the content of the letter.

If you confess Jesus as Lord with your mouth and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 Because people believe in their hearts, they can be justified; If you admit it, you will be saved. (Luo 10:9- 10)

First of all, the object of faith-believing in God.

Second, the center of faith-call him (Jesus Christ)

Third, the focus of faith-resurrection from the dead.

We want the second to sixth lessons to explain the truth about the Trinity God and Jesus Christ in detail, so I won't go into details here.

Third, the source of the letter.

First of all, from God

You are saved by grace and faith. This is not from yourself, but from God. Nor out of deeds, lest anyone boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)

As we have said above, faith does not come from self-identity, not from self-confidence, but from God.

Second, from the Holy Spirit.

9 Another person has received faith from the Holy Spirit, and another person has received the gift of healing from the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 1. 12: 9).

The faith mentioned here is a special gift. We can't believe in God without the guidance of the Holy Spirit Protector.

Third, from Jesus.

Look to Jesus, the creator and finisher of our faith. (Lai 12: 2)

Fourth, from prayer.

The apostle said to the Lord, "please increase our faith." (Road 17:5)

The child's father immediately shouted, "I believe it, but I don't believe it enough." Please help me! " " (9:24)

Pray for God's faith.

Fifth, from listening.

17 shows that the channel comes from hearing, and hearing comes from the word of Christ. (Luo 10: 17)

But many people who heard the word believed, and the number of men was about 5 thousand. (Acts 4: 4)

Through gathering, listening to sermons and reading the Bible, we have confidence. God's word is stable in heaven and will never change or be invalid. True faith is based on the word of God.

Fourth, the role of faith.

I. Justification by faith

Because we know that people are justified not by the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ, so we believe in Christ Jesus and are justified by faith in Christ, not by the law, because no one is justified by the law. (Address 2: 16)

Therefore, we can see that people are justified by faith and do not care about keeping the law. (Rom。 3: 28)

By faith, our position has changed-from sinner to righteous.

Second, live by faith.

17 Because the righteousness of God is being manifested in this gospel; This meaning is based on faith, so faith. As it is written, "the righteous will live by faith." (Luo 1: 17)

Those who believe in the son have eternal life; A man who does not believe in the Son will not have eternal life, but the wrath of God is always on him. "(about 3: 36)

By faith, our lives are changed-from death to eternal life.

Third, be saved by faith.

Brothers beloved by the Lord, we should always thank God for you, because he has chosen you from the beginning, so that you can be sanctified by the Holy Spirit and saved by faith. (Post 2: 13)

And know that you have understood the Bible since childhood; This Bible can make you have the wisdom to be saved by believing in Christ Jesus. (3: 15)

Because of faith, our state is changed-from sinking to salvation.
