Introduction:
Huang Chao (? - 884) was a native of Caozhou Yuanju (now northwest of Cao County, Heze, Shandong). The leader of the peasant uprising in the late Tang Dynasty and the founding emperor of the Daqi regime.
Life:
Huang Chao was born in a salt merchant family. He was good at riding and shooting, liked to be a knight, was proficient in pen and ink, and had few poetic talents. After reaching adulthood, he failed to pass the imperial examination. When there was a severe drought in Kanto, they actively recruited refugees. In June of the second year of Qianfu (875), he responded to Wang Xianzhi's uprising. The following year, he prevented Wang Xianzhi from surrendering to the Tang Dynasty in Qizhou, divided his forces with Xianzhi, and fought independently.
In the fourth year of Qianfu (877), he captured Yunzhou and killed Xue Chong, the governor of Tianping. In the fifth year of Qianfu (878), Wang Xianzhi died in battle and became the leader of the rebel army. He was known as the "Songtian General" and his reign title was "Wang Ba". The number of officials and subordinates reached more than 100,000. Unable to attack the Central Plains from the north, we crossed the Yangtze River south, passed through Jiangxi, western Zhejiang, and eastern Zhejiang, and opened a mountain road of 700 miles before entering Fujian. ?
In the sixth year of Qianfu (879), Guangzhou was besieged. In the first year of Guangming (880), they entered Luoyang, broke through Tongguan, and entered Chang'an, which was located in Hanyuan Hall. The country was named "Daqi" and the reign was named "Jin Tong". Soon Chang'an was surrounded by the Tang army, and supplies were difficult to supply. In the third year of Zhonghe (883), Huang Chao withdrew from Chang'an. In the fourth year of Zhonghe (884), Huang Chao retreated to Langhu Valley in Mount Tai, where he was defeated and committed suicide.
