What does the verse in 2 Corinthians 5: 17 mean?
Christian digest. 5 17 "if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, and the old things have passed and become new." [original meaning] "new creation" new creation; "Old things" are primitive and obsolete. [Text Note] "If anyone is in Christ" and "in Christ" mean to believe and accept Christ, unite with him in God's life, enjoy the supply of his life, and take him as the category of life. "He is a new person", and "new person" is opposite to the old body. The implication here is that since people (believers) who belong to Christ are all newly created, we can no longer know them by the old ones. "The past has passed, and everything has become new." "The past" refers to the life, habits, hobbies, actions and history in old buildings. (1) Christians can only have a bright future without the burden of the past. (2) After we believed in the Lord, God put us in Christ and became a new person. All the old accidents, old interests, old attempts, old relationships, etc. The past has become the past; From now on, we will live a new life and take a new road. (3) Many people like to live in the past history, no matter good or bad, they can never forget it; However, in Christ, if we want to run well in the future, we must forget what is behind us and strive to move forward (Phil. 3: 13), not only past sins, failures and bad things, but also past achievements and victories, which should be forgotten and not entangled. (4) If you don't forget your past achievements, you will be complacent; On the other hand, if we don't forget our failures and weaknesses, we will be frustrated and unable to move forward. (5) No matter whether our past is good or bad, it will have a negative effect on us and hinder our progress. Therefore, we must get rid of everything in the past before we can move forward. (6) The Lord has smeared all the written evidence against us on the cross and completely abolished them (see Col. 2: 14), so we should not go back and pick them up, especially the injuries and shadows we suffered in the past and the irreparable mistakes we made in the past have been written off by our conversion to the Lord. (7) I am not a newcomer until I have changed a lot; As long as I am in Christ, I am a new creation. How we are in Adam, the nature, life and behavior of all the old people flow to us without our efforts; Similarly, as long as we are in Christ, everything in Christ also flows to us. (8) Without Christ, God never does any work for us; The first step of God's work is to put us in Christ. (9) New entrants should have a new vision, lead a new life and do new services. Believe in Jesus Christ and live forever.
