The translation is as follows:
The roof of the thatched cottage is often combed and replaced, as clean as new, without a trace of moss. The flowers and trees planted by hand in the yard are in rows. A small river outside the courtyard guards the farmland and closely surrounds the green space. Two green hills are like open doors, bringing cool breeze and beautiful scenery.
Outside the courtyard, the mulberry leaves are sparse, but the neem flowers are very prosperous. The breeze blows gently, bringing the fragrance of neem flowers, and reaching through the wall to the heart. The yellow bird croaked gently, awakened the lingering dream at noon and drifted away. I thought I was in my hometown of Mid-Levels Garden.
Poetic as follows:
The first two sentences of the poem are written in Mr. Hu Yin's yard. The thatched roof is often replaced with thatched grass, which is as bright as new. The yard is clean and tidy, and the flowers and trees planted by hand are pleasing to the eye.
In the last two sentences, the poet turned his eyes to the outside of the courtyard and wrote about the big environment in which the courtyard was located. There are mountains, water and fields, and the words "guarantee" and "send" describe the scenery affectionately and naturally, as if Xanadu was just around the corner.
The ancients had the habit of writing poems on the wall. Poetry was full of enthusiasm and came as soon as they started writing. This poem is the author's expression of his feelings through the scenery in front of him. Mr. Hu Yin, whose real name is Yang Defeng, is a hermit and a good neighbor of Wang Anshi when he lived in Jinling in his later years. The poem itself is about Mr. Hu Yin's residence, but it expresses the poet's leisurely mood.
The poet also conveyed his praise to his master by borrowing scenery. Both "long sweep" and "self-cultivation" mean that his master is hardworking and simple, and loves life. The landscapes of "protecting fields with water" and "sending green hills" are so affectionate, which shows the owner's interest in landscapes.
The ingenious combination of personification and description, the beauty of artificial courtyard and the natural beauty of harmony between man and nature combine the master's love for the natural environment with the natural environment's love for the master, which has become a famous sentence through the ages. This fresh life in Shu Ya has also become our wish.
