It originated from the ancient "line drawing". In literary creation, "line drawing", as a method of expression, refers to drawing vivid images with the most concise pen and ink without comparison.
China's excellent classical novels "Water Margin" and "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" often use the method of drawing lines; In Lu Xun's works, there are also many examples of using line drawing techniques. Sketch requires using minimalist language to describe the characteristics of the scenery and reflect the author's feelings. For example, at the beginning of Lu Xun's Hometown, as it was the end of winter, when it was near my hometown, the weather was gloomy again, and the cold wind blew into the hut.
Woo-hoo, looking out from the gap in the canopy, there are several desolate villages across the yellow world, far and near, without any vitality. A few words, a few sketches, not only will the hometown of vilen, which is shrouded in a gloomy winter sky, be closed to the bottom; And between the lines reveals the deep sadness contained in the author's heart. The narrative uses the technique of line drawing, which makes people feel that the lines are clear and the words are concise and true.

When describing a character by line drawing, we can reveal the appearance and manner of the character in a few sentences, so that readers can see the true face of the person clearly. Such as Lu Xun's Kong Yiji, "the figure is very tall; Blue and white face, often with some scars between wrinkles; A messy gray beard ","Although wearing a gown, it is dirty and torn, as if it has not been mended or washed for more than ten years. "
These descriptions are like using a few ink lines and simple strokes to reveal characteristics and convey grace. I like painting, whether it is meticulous or colored ink, whether it is watercolor or oil painting, it can form its own system and have its own characteristics; The line drawing technique in literary creation is not mutually exclusive with other techniques.
