How to appreciate the "image" characteristics in ancient poetry

Poetry image includes two types: character image and scenery image.

Character images are generally aimed at the image of the protagonist or poet in narrative poems or lyric poems. The image of the protagonist is the image characteristics of the characters depicted in the poem, such as the beautiful, intelligent and fearless image of Luo Fu in the folk song "Shang Mo Sang" written by Yuefu. Lyric hero image, sometimes the image depicted in poetry is not the poet himself, but the characteristics of a certain kind of people, such as the image of persistent search for a lover in the Book of Songs. The poet's image is the embodiment of the poet's personality in poetry, such as the leisurely and tranquil image of the poet in Tao Yuanming's Return to the Garden.

The image of the scene is generally based on the image or image of things. Things are mostly the images of things described in poems about nostalgia, such as the solitary image of Tung in Wang Anshi's Lonely Tung. Images, scenes and things that contain the poet's feelings in poetry, such as "wild goose", "sunset", "strong tube", "frost" and "white hair" in Fan Zhongyan's "Pride of Fisherman", all show the sadness of loneliness and the fleeting youth.
