Juncao technology is listed as a Minning counterpart poverty alleviation cooperation project. In 1996, the Party Central Committee and the State Council made a strategic arrangement for 13 more developed provinces and cities in the east to pair up and assist 10 provinces and autonomous regions in the west, and designated Fujian's counterpart to assist Ningxia. At the Second Joint Meeting of Minning Counterpart Poverty Alleviation Cooperation held in Yinchuan in April 1997, Juncao technology was listed as a Minning Counterpart Poverty Alleviation Cooperation Project.
Introduction to the Southern Fujian Counterpart Poverty Alleviation Project
In 1996, the party committees and governments of Fujian and Ningxia provinces, based on the central government’s decision-making and deployment to carry out east-west poverty alleviation cooperation, decided to comprehensively carry out Minning and Ningxia Counterpart Poverty Alleviation Cooperation. On July 15, 1997, the foundation stone of Minning Village was officially laid. Today, Minning Village has become Minning Town, and the per capita annual income has increased from 500 yuan to 14,961 yuan. This Gobi Desert, where "there were no birds in the sky and no grass growing on the ground", has become a well-known characteristic town.
Assistance cannot be separated from industry. The practical technology of growing mushrooms using Juncao invented by Lin Zhanxi, a professor at Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, was listed as one of the earliest Minning counterpart poverty alleviation cooperation projects. In the 1990s, Lin Zhanxi brought Juncao technology to Ningxia and settled in villages to help farmers grow mushrooms to increase their income. More than 20 years ago, the villagers who had just moved here from Xihaigu, Ningxia, a place with deep mountains and ravines, had never seen either Juncao or Agaricus bisporus, and they were full of concerns. At this time, Liu Changfu, who dared to think and act, took the lead in building a mushroom shed in his yard.
