The air I breathe is just one breath:
Inhale, exhale, soul, heart,
If it weren't for a winged and talented god,
Become transparent under the light of air and spirit.
Give me air and sunshine, give me
A hard life in a hard world.
I accept everything, yes. I breathe with you.

A "hymn" is an "elegy".
Nevertheless, I have to "respect and worship".
Three equals one. And readers.

This poem is selected from Jorge Guillen 1973' s Other Poems. This poem is divided into three paragraphs, which seem to be independent, but in fact there are certain internal relations.
At the beginning of the first poem, the poet wrote: "The air I breathe is just a breath …" Breathing in and out implies that the poet is old. Nevertheless, the poet still maintains his "soul" and lofty "heart", and maintains his own thinking and belief. The poet revealed the truth that mortals living in the world are not as carefree and unrestrained as the winged and brilliant gods. Mortals "must be transparent under the illumination of air and spirit", which requires both material and spirit. As long as there is such a "light of air and spirit", then, in a hard world, hard life is just a "gift" and "I accept it all". Indeed, Ji Lian once accepted all kinds of hard life. After the Spanish Civil War, the poet accepted it as a gift after decades of exile, exile and exhaustion. In this poem, it shows the poet's love and praise for life. The second section is the extension and expansion of the first section. In this world, although there are hardships of life, bitterness and bitterness, and all kinds of disappointments, there are also sweetness, love, friendship and praise, and a colorful life! It is these colorful "concentric circles" that attract the poet and make him give a heartfelt sigh: "It's worth a visit". It is for love and friendship that the poet is willing to struggle on this difficult celestial body and accept a difficult life. Therefore, from the connection between the first section and the second section, the second section is a comment on the first section, and the concise language reviews his life's creation. Hymns, lamentations and worship are all the author's poems. The three poems quoted here refer to the poet's creation in general, not in the practical sense. Whether it's a hymn, an elegy or a tribute, in other words, whether it's a compliment, a tribute or a sadness to life, "three for one" is a poet's experience and feeling of life and the world, and a faithful reflection of life. This is like the poet's own poetic proposition: "Get rid of everything in life that is not poetry, it is poetry." In this way, the author skillfully links his creation with the exclamation and praise of life in the first two poems.
In short, this poem is a review and summary of Ji Lian's life and creation in his later years. Ideologically, it shows the poet's praise and infinite nostalgia for a better world life; Structurally, it has a clever and close internal connection; In language and writing, especially in the third quarter, the poet's concise poetic style is more representative.
