The history and current situation of children's poetry

The history and current situation of children's poetry:

Children's literature is a relatively young literary category. The late 17th and early 18th centuries were its germination period. Before that, it was mainly oral creation and adult literature. Works that are loved and partially accepted by children, such as "Five Volumes", "One Thousand and One Nights", etc. In the mid-18th century, children's literature developed further. The most representative work is Jean-Jacques Rousseau's children's biographical novel "Emile".

The advent of Danish fairy tales such as Andersen in the 19th century marked the first prosperous period of world children's literature. In the 20th century, the emergence of a large number of excellent works from Britain, the Soviet Union, the United States, France, Italy, Sweden and other countries marked the second prosperous period of world children's literature.

Due to thousands of years of feudal rule in China, children and children's education have not been taken seriously for a long time, so children's literature appeared relatively late. It was not until the late Qing Dynasty that the children's poems, novels, and dramas written specifically for children began to appear one after another.

Children's literature became an independent literary category at the beginning of the 20th century and after the May Fourth New Culture Movement. The foundation works of modern Chinese children's literature are the fairy tale "Scarecrow" written by Ye Shengtao and published in the early 1920s, and Bing Xin's epistolary children's prose "For Young Readers" published a few years later.
