Where is the hometown, it is leisurely to think about it.
On the autumn night in Huainan, the geese came to Gaozhai.
2. Translation
My hometown is far away and vague. I don't know where it is.
the thoughts of going home are endless.
It was cold and autumn rain in the south of Huaihe River at night.
I heard the cry of geese coming from far and near.
3. Appreciation
In ancient times, transportation was inconvenient, and flying geese often caused wanderers to miss their homeland. On the night of autumn rain, when the author was thinking deeply, he heard the cry of geese from far and near, and his heart felt deeper than ordinary people.
Shen Deqian said: "Five-character quatrains, the naturalness of right honesty, the sublimity of white, the antiquity of Suzhou, merged into the chemical machine" (from Shuo Shi Xi Yu). Gu Lian is indeed the style feature of Wei Yingwu's five-character quatrains. From this poem Wen Yan, we can see that he consciously used the sentence patterns, language and expression techniques of ancient poems to form a lofty and far-reaching artistic conception while maintaining the characteristics of the quatrains "meaning should be implicit and language should be inclusive". Between verses, avoid excessive jumps, and the language also strives to be simple and natural, avoiding carving and cutting. One or two sentences are also mixed with sentence syntax of scattered culture. This style is different from Bai Juyi's school's expression of daily life interest in simple language (such as Bai Juyi's a suggestion to my friend liu).
The first sentence is straightforward, and the word "misty" reflects the poet's inner sadness and desolation. In the second sentence, "autumn rain" sets off the poet's endless worries with continuous and intermittent rain, rendering a bleak and sad atmosphere, and the word "Gao" reflects the poet's loneliness. The language of the whole poem is simple, natural and subtle, which is thought-provoking. It mainly expresses the feelings of the distant officials who miss their hometown, and also contains the depressed feelings of the turbulent times. At the end, it leaves a broad space for readers to think for themselves and give them room for imagination.
