Zhang Ji, a poet in the late Tang Dynasty, was obsessed with Du Fu's poems and burned Du Fu's famous poems one by one. He mixed the ashes with honey and ate three spoonfuls of them one morning. One day, Zhang Ji's friend came to visit him and saw Zhang Ji mixing paper ashes. He was very puzzled and asked, "Zhang Ji, why did you burn Du Fu's poems and mix them with honey to eat?" Zhang Ji said: "After eating Du Fu's poems, I can write as good poems as Du Fu!" His friend laughed after hearing this.
