Poems for the little match girl and Fanka.

At the shoemaker's house,

He endured hunger,

He endured the cold,

He endured beatings,

But he is only nine years old.

There are so many lively Moscow people.

But no one sympathized with him;

Busy Moscow, with so many things,

But none of them belong to Fanka.

On this desolate Christmas Eve,

I heard,

He sighed sadly.

I know,

He wants to go home!
