What does snow mud claw mean?

"Snow mud red claws" are the paw prints left by geese stepping on snow mud. A metaphor for the traces left by the past.

Source: Mianchi Shi "He Zi Nostalgia".

Original poem:

What is life like everywhere? It should be like flying in snow. I accidentally left my fingers and claws in the mud, and Hong Fei was driving that complicated thing.

The old monk is dead and has become a new tower. There is no reason to look at the old topic with a broken wall. Remember whether the past was rugged or not, and the long road was full of people.

Translation:

Life is alive, here and there, occasionally leaving some traces. What do you think it looks like? I feel really like a swan flying around and accidentally landing in the snow somewhere. It left some paw prints on the snow, which happened by accident, because the swan's flight was not certain at all.

The old monk Feng Xian has passed away, leaving only a new tower to hide the ashes. We will never have a chance to go there to see the broken walls engraved in the past. Do you still remember that bumpy trip to Mianchi at that time? The road is long, people are very tired, and the donkey is too tired to bark.

Poetry appreciation

The metaphor of life experience in this poem is impressive! The experience of life is really hard to grasp. Hong Fei Xue Ni is the real process of life.

In the sixth year of Jiayou (106 1), Su Shi was appointed as Fengxiang (now Shaanxi) to sign the sentence, and his younger brother Su Zhe wrote poems to send him there. There is a line in the poem, "I am a county magistrate (Su Zhe is Mianchi county magistrate), and people know whether the old monk's house wall is * * *".

Six years ago, the two brothers went to Beijing to take an exam. When passing by, their horses were exhausted because of the rugged mountain road, so they had to borrow donkeys to hurry. When I arrived at Mianchi, the donkey was hungry and stayed in a monk's room, which left a deep impression on him all his life. Now my brother brings up the past and evokes Su Shi's memories and feelings, so he wrote this poem. The poem expresses the thought that life is difficult and life destiny is difficult to grasp, and contains profound philosophy. Encourage readers to think deeply about related issues.

Poetry is characterized by appropriate metaphor and free form, like a metrical poem, which is called "one-line poem" by predecessors. This actually reflects the characteristics of Su Shi's creative style, which is casual and not subject to too many constraints.
