Image is one of the most attractive parts of poetry, and poetry becomes full and full because of image. "A craftsman who only looks at images is lucky" (Liu Xie's Thought of Carving Dragons with Literary Mind), which shows the importance of images to poetry. Li Shangyin's poetic images are often combined in a unique way, thus giving readers a new aesthetic experience, such as Russell's Cui Yong Ting and Cui Zhou Ting.
Bamboo dock is clean and clear, and acacia is separated from the city. Autumn frost flies late, leaving dry lotus to listen to the rain.
Among them, the combination of bamboo, dock, water, sill, dry load and rain is the most distinctive. When we list "bamboo" and "pier", we only think of bamboo and small castles, but when they are combined, poetry is strong. Imagine a small village full of bamboo forests, with faint water, and the poet leaning against the railing until dusk. What a poetic picture this is. Look at the last sentences "withered lotus" and "rain". When the lotus withers alone, we often regard it as the result of normal seasonal changes, and combining "withered lotus" with "the sound of rain" makes people feel infinite melancholy. It is this simple and unusual combination of images that Shi Li used to make the original humble image suddenly become affectionate and have endless words and meanings.
2. Changes in part of speech
"Part of speech change refers to the phenomenon that a word breaks through the inherent part of speech of a word in specific language use and temporarily presents another part of speech." When we read Li Shangyin's poems carefully, it is not difficult to find that the parts of speech of many words in Li Shangyin's poems have also changed. The part-of-speech changes of these words have produced a defamiliarization effect in poetry. For example:
"The belt is ruthless and wide, and the spring smoke is white." (Four Poems of Yantai)
"The cloud screen is still hiding loneliness, and the kite in the west building is anxious all night" ("Four Poems of Yantai")
"It is raining at dusk, and Song Yu has no worries and worries about himself" ("Songs of the South")
"Narcissus wants to go to carp, and Furong cries more all night" ("Banqiao Bie")
Most of these words are adjectives used as verbs, which not only makes the language of poetry concise in form, but also makes poetry more subtle and appropriate in conveying artistic conception. For example, the word "Song Yu has no worries", the former is a noun, and the latter becomes a verb. This indescribable sense of melancholy is expressed incisively and vividly by the poet only using the word "sorrow", which seems simple and repetitive but memorable. The most brilliant skills are often displayed in the most ordinary and simple places.
