Classic quotations from Tibetan life and death books

Some time ago, I read the Tibetan book of life and death, which was very well written and contained many inspirations from the guru. I have compiled some classic quotations and shared them with you. Everyone will have different feelings and different gains after reading it.

You're still the same person.

What you are now makes you who you will be in the future.

-Buddha

A pair of dirty hands can't be washed twice in the same tap water.

No matter how hard you try, you can't squeeze oil out of the sand.

-Tibetan proverb

Man has been preparing, preparing, preparing all his life: he is just not ready for the next life.

-Master Jabbagian

Being close to death can bring about real awakening and a change in outlook on life.

-Soja Rinpoche

The living die, those who gather are scattered, those who accumulate are tired, those who stand are dead, and those who are high are dead. Everything is closely related: we should know that we are responsible for what we say and do. In fact, we are responsible for ourselves, for anyone and anything, and even for the whole universe.

-Soja Rinpoche

6. Death can find us anywhere on the earth, even if we are in a suspicious and strange place. If there is any way to avoid the blow of death, I will not hesitate, but if you think you can survive death, you are wrong.

People come and go, come and go in a hurry, dancing, but not mentioning a dead word. Good, but once the time comes, their own deaths, the deaths of their wives, children and friends will surprise them, make them awake and unprepared, and then conquer them with stormy emotions, making them cry their eyes out, angry and heartbroken!

If we want to get rid of the biggest bondage of death, we must take a completely different road, let us uncover the mystery of death, let us be familiar with it and get used to it; Let us think of death at any time ... We don't know where death is waiting for us, so let's wait for it everywhere. To practice death is to practice liberation. He who learns how to die learns how not to be a slave.

-Montaigne

Remember the example of the old cow, who was content to sleep in the cowshed?

You have to eat, sleep, pull … these are inevitable things …

Other than that, it's none of your business

-Bieju Rinpoche

Planning for the future is like fishing in a dry abyss;

No matter how hard you try,

Let's put aside all our scheming ambitions!

If you want to think about something, ...

Please think about your floating death. ...

Jesse Rinpoche

When you are strong and healthy,

Never thought that disease would come;

But like lightning,

Suddenly coming to you.

When you are entangled in worldly affairs,

Never thought that death would come;

But like thunder,

It will make you dizzy.

-Milarepa Venerable.

There is only one unchangeable law in the universe, that is, everything changes and everything is impermanent.

-Buddha

Our existence is as short as autumn clouds,

Watching all beings live and die is like watching dance steps.

The time of life is like lightning in the sky.

Like a torrent rushing down a ridge.

Of all the footprints,

The elephant's footprint is the noblest;

In all mindfulness meditation,

The thought of death is the most glorious.

-Buddha

People who bind happiness to themselves,

Instead, it destroyed winged life;

When happiness flies to kiss goodbye,

Will live in the eternal sunrise.

William Blake

Because the current consciousness is the real Buddha, in the process of openness and satisfaction, I found the guru in my heart. When we understand that the endless natural mind is the original mind of the guru, it is useless to persist, climb, cry and pray or complain artificially. As long as we rest in this pure, open and natural state, we can achieve natural self-liberation.

-Dunzhu Rinpoche

(Buddha's nature) is beyond words, without examples;

Samsara didn't make him worse, and Nirvana didn't make him better;

It is neither born nor dead;

Not liberated, not confused;

It doesn't exist or disappear;

It has no limit, it doesn't belong to any category.

-Dunzhu Rinpoche

If the elephant heart is bound by the rope of mindfulness in all aspects, then everything will disappear and complete happiness will come.

All enemies: our emotional tigers, lions, elephants, bears, snakes, and guardians of hell, demons and terror will be bound and surrendered because you control and tame your heart, because all fears and countless troubles come from your heart.

-The guru was silent.

In today's highly interdependent world, neither individuals nor countries can solve it alone. We need each other, so we must cultivate a worldwide sense of responsibility. It is our collective and individual responsibility to protect and nourish our world family, support the disadvantaged members and protect and care for the environment in which we live.
