2. Chen Yan (1856~1937) is a modern writer. The courtesy name is Shuyi and the nickname is Old Man Shiyi. A native of Houguan, Fujian (now Fuzhou City). In the eighth year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty (1882), he was elected. Liu Ming, the governor of Taiwan, passed the curtain. In the 24th year, in the capital, he wrote the ten articles of "Discussions on the Reform Movement of 1898" and advocated reform. After the coup, Zhang Zhidong, the governor of Huguang, invited him to Wuchang and served as the chief editor of the official newspaper bureau, where he met Shen Zengzhi. In the 28th year, I took the special economic examination and failed. Later, he became the head of the academic department and taught at the Capital University. After the fall of the Qing Dynasty, he taught in universities in the north and south, compiled "Fujian General Chronicles", and finally lived in Suzhou. Together with Zhang Binglin and Jin Tianhe, he founded the Chinese Society of Chinese Studies and served as a professor at the Wuxi Chinese Studies School.

It descended after the middle period of Guangxu, so Tongguang style refers to the Song poetry school after Guangxu, Xuantong and even the Republic of China. Among the poets of the Tongguang School, Chen Sanli has the highest achievement, and Shen Zengzhi, Zheng Xiaoxu, Chen Yan, etc. are important members. The poetic style formed by Tongguang School became "Tongguang Style".
