Psalm 42, verse1-1:Interpretation

The first section "God, my soul longs for you, just like a deer longs for a stream." -If David wrote it, his heart is so eager for God, just like a deer eager for a stream. He must have written it when his son Absalom kicked him out of the house. This is the happiest poem the church read when it was persecuted by Emperor Nero and hid in the crypt. You can still see the good deer statues they carved in those caves. Deer long for streams, and water is not unnecessary for deer, but necessary for deer. It is extremely painful for believers to worship God without God. However, with God, you will be satisfied. As happy as a deer who has drunk enough water. A fire broke out in a forest, and the fire forced wild animals to flee everywhere, including tame deer. They were frightened by the high temperature and ran away quickly. The high temperature outside and the heat of running with their bodies make them extremely thirsty. At this time, the stream outside the forest became the source of their lives. Similarly, believers are frightened by the harsh environment in the world, making them go straight to find living water in God to really quench their thirst. The desire for God is a person's best phenomenon. If people don't have any yearning feeling for God, it is extremely pitiful. God put a longing heart in people's hearts, thus proving the existence of God itself.

The second verse: "My soul thirsts for God, the living God. When must I appear before God? " We should feel that God can see himself in any ministry and in any environment. What the poet wants is an eternal god, not a dead god. He is the source of life. This is the life, light and love that our hearts long for. "When must I appear before God?" According to the original text, "When must I appear before God?" Not only do you want to see God, but God also wants to see him. The wicked will never pray to God. Because it is not a happy thing for them to see God. It is punishment and pain. Just as the demon possessed said to the Lord Jesus, "Have you come here to make us suffer before the time?" Thieves always refuse to see the judge. He would rather there were no judges in the world. Therefore, the wicked are even more reluctant to see God. When the Lord comes again, many people cry and go to the mountain to cover, and they don't want to see God. "Say to the mountains and rocks, fall on us and hide us from those who sit on the throne" (Revelation 6: 16). Believers' thirst for God is like a baby's thirst for its mother's milk. This has a lot to do with his life. What is the God we long for?

Section 3 "I eat tears day and night. People keep saying to me, where is your God? " -Tears are sincere expressions. The most painful thing is that people are anxious but can't cry. I wish I could shed tears. Especially shed sincere tears before God. The devil and his gang always laugh at the church of God. The devil came to test the Lord Jesus and said, "If you are the son of God, you can command these stones to become food." This is the same contempt for the Lord, asking him to doubt his position. His purpose is to separate the son of God from his father. Similarly, he wants to separate believers from saviors. "Where is your God?" In other words, God doesn't care about you. Or the God you believe in is just an illusion, not a fact. Believers have sufficient evidence in their hearts. "The Holy Spirit proves with our hearts that we are the sons of God." It seems that God abandoned us outside, but in fact we have sufficient evidence in our hearts.

Verse 4: "I walked with all the people and led them to the house of God with the voice of joy and praise, and all of them kept the festival. I am very sad when I think of these things. " Looking back on how to worship God with everyone in the past, how lonely I am now, my heart will inevitably be sad. Thinking about how to worship the Lord enthusiastically in the past, I am eager to be close to him now. This shows that you are eager to see him, and you hope that God will give you a great revival. Pour out your heart in front of God, long for God's grace and opportunity, and be happy with everyone in front of God. There are many Christians who have never experienced a formal great revival. But passers-by have repeatedly said that this is an unforgettable experience. They once passed by and learned the taste of rejuvenating happiness. I have been looking forward to the great revival of God.

V "My heart, why are you bored? Why are you fidgeting with me? I should look up to God, because his smiling face helped me, and I want to praise him. " -I have a good look at the causes of my inner depression, so as to relieve it appropriately. There are two kinds of melancholy in the world, one is fatal; Once born. The apostle Paul said, "If you worry according to God's will, you will have no regrets and be saved. But worldly worries kill people "(2 Cor. 7: 10). Mary cried at the feet of the Lord and was forgiven. Esau wept, but found nothing. David was oppressed by the wicked, and the devil came to test him, but he only said to himself, "My heart, why are you depressed?" The word "melancholy" originally meant rolling waves (Isaiah 17: 12, Jeremiah 5: 22, 6: 23). Hope to make people happier in suffering. In the life we believe in, there are two interests that make our hearts happiest, that is, faith and hope. Faith makes us know how much Christ has done for us, so we are comforted. Hope is to believe what Christ will do for us in the future. Both are due to Christ and his promises. If we can say, "Lord, the person you love is sick." You will hear the Lord Jesus say, "This disease will not lead to death." In the face of God's bright day, believers can say in any pain, "I will praise him anyway." Sorrow and pain are temporary, and the moment of happiness and peace is coming. Believers, like caged birds in this world, will soon be released into an infinitely happy and free world.

Verse 6 "O my God, my heart is depressed within me. Therefore, I remember you from the land of Jordan, from Hermon Ridge and from Mount Misha. " -When you are depressed, you can strengthen your confidence by remembering the day when the Lord was powerful in salvation. When you think about how God used to listen to prayer, you can be full of hope that God will listen in the future.

Section 7 "Your waterfall sounds, and the abyss responds to the abyss. You wave Hong Tao over me. " Waterfalls may mean that amazing things often happen in the Mediterranean near the coast of Judah. Suddenly there were thick clouds, lightning and thunder, and heavy rain poured down. At this time, there is a storm blowing on the sea, which is a thrilling thing. If people are at sea, they should be more depressed. People feel that what happened is God's "Hong Tao over me". Believers know that all the storms he has encountered are from God, and when he has arranged and achieved his goal, they will feel at ease and obey.

Verse 8: "The Lord will be gracious to me in the daytime. In the evening, I will sing praises and pray to the God who gave me life. " I can sing in the dark because I know that the night will definitely pass and the Lord will be merciful during the day. There is no doubt that believers love God. Even if the sky can be removed, the mercy of the Lord will not leave those who trust in him. Paul Silas is in a Philippine prison, and his foot is stuck in a wooden dog. But they "prayed and praised God" in the middle of the night (Acts 16: 25).

Verse 9 "I will say to God, my rock, why have you forgotten me? Why do I always mourn because of the oppression of the enemy? " When believers encounter things they don't understand, they keep asking God, "Why?" There are many things that God will tell us later. Jesus said to his disciples, "You don't know what I am doing now, but you will understand later" (Jn. 13: 7). There are some things that God told us at that time. However, God wants us to experience many things by faith. He just needs us to rest assured that everything he does is out of love for us, which is enough.

Verse 10 "My enemies revile me as if breaking my bones and keep saying to me, Where is your God?" When the wicked persecute believers, they think that God can't stop them. In fact, what the wicked do to believers has been recognized by God in advance and will be rewarded by God in the future. Because believers are persecuted, God has prepared infinite rewards for them. The wicked wait for punishment, and the believers wait for the crown of God's grace.

Section 1 1: "Oh, my soul, why are you depressed? Why are you anxious in my heart? Look to God. Because I still want to praise him. He is the glory of my face and my god. " The poet encouraged his heart not to be depressed, but to look to God. Because god will shine on him. Believers' faces face the sun and reflect sunlight. The Lord Jesus is the sun of righteousness. He will appear to those who fear him and bring a bright era, and his light can be healed (Malachi 4: 2). Then there will be no disease, no sadness, no depression.
