What are the ancient poems describing autumn?

1. "Quequatrains"

Author: Du Fu? (Tang Dynasty)

Two orioles sing in the green willows, and a row of egrets ascends to the blue sky.

The window contains Qianqiu snow of Xiling, and the door is docked with a ship thousands of miles away from Dongwu.

Translation: Two orioles sang gracefully among the green willow trees, and a neat group of egrets rushed straight into the blue sky. When I sit in front of the window, I can see the snow that never melts all year round on the west ridge, and the ships from Soochow, thousands of miles away, are moored in front of the door.

2. "Mountain Travel"

Author: Du Mu (Tang Dynasty)

Far up the cold mountain, the stone path is sloping, and there is a home deep in the white clouds.

I park my car and sit in the maple forest at night, the leaves are as red as the flowers in February due to frost.

Translation: Along the winding path up the mountain, deep in the white clouds, there are actually other people. I stopped the car because I loved the evening view of the maple forest in late autumn. The maple leaves, stained by autumn frost, are more beautiful than the spring flowers in February.

3. "Happy Rain on a Spring Night"

Author: Du Fu? (Tang Dynasty)

Good rain knows the season, and spring will happen. Sneaking into the night with the wind, moistening things silently.

The wild paths are all dark with clouds, but the river boats are only bright with fire. Look at the red and wet place at dawn, the flowers are heavy on the official city.

Translation: Good rain seems to choose the right time to fall in the spring when all things emerge. With the gentle breeze, it quietly enters the night. Finely and densely, it nourishes all things on the earth. Thick dark clouds cover the fields and paths, and little lights flicker on the fishing boats on the river. Look at the dewy flowers again tomorrow morning, Chengdu will be full of flowers.

4. "The Year of Li Gui in the South of the Yangtze River"

Author: Du Fu? (Tang Dynasty)

It is common in Prince Qi's house, and Cui Jiutang heard it several times.

It is the beautiful scenery in the south of the Yangtze River, and you will see it again when the flowers are falling.

Translation: Back then, I often saw your performances at King Qi’s residence; I also appreciated your art many times in front of Cui Jiutang. I never thought that in this beautiful Jiangnan, during the season of falling flowers, I would meet an old acquaintance like you by chance.

5. "Wang Yue"

Author: Du Fu? (Tang Dynasty)

How about Dai Zongfu? Qilu is still young. The clock of creation is beautiful, and the yin and yang cut off the dawn.

Zeng Yun is born in the chest, and the returning bird enters the canthus. You will be at the top of the mountain, and you will have a panoramic view of the mountains.

Translation: How majestic is Mount Tai? Walking out of Qilu, you can still see the green peak. The magical nature gathers thousands of beautiful scenery, and the mountains to the south and north separate the morning and dusk. Layers of white clouds wash away the ravines in the chest; the returning birds fly into the eye sockets of admiring the scenery. You must climb to the top of Mount Tai to overlook the mountains and feel full of pride.
