1. Original text: The rolling Yangtze River passes eastward, and the waves wash away the heroes. Right and wrong, success or failure turn around in vain. The green hills are still there, and the sunset turns red several times. The white-haired fisherman and woodcutter on the Nagisa River is used to watching the autumn moon and spring breeze. Happy reunion over a pot of wine. Many things in ancient and modern times are all talked about with laughter.
From: Ming Dynasty·Yang Shen's "Linjiang Immortal·The Rolling Yangtze River Passes East"
Interpretation: The rolling Yangtze River flows eastward, and how many heroes disappear like flying waves. Arguing over what is right and wrong, success and failure, is all in vain in the end. Only the green mountains still exist and the sun still rises and sets. The white-haired hermit by the river has long been accustomed to the changes of time. It was a rare meeting with friends, and I enjoyed a glass of wine. Many things throughout the ages have been discussed and laughed at by people.
2. Original text: Life is like walking on snow and mud. Occasionally, there are fingers and claws left on the mud, and Hongfei is counting the things. The old monk has died and a new pagoda has been built. There is no way to see the old inscriptions if the walls are broken. Do you still remember the rugged past? The road was long, people were trapped, and donkeys neighed.
From: "Hezi Nostalgic from Mianchi" by Su Shi of the Song Dynasty
Interpretation: What is it like for a person to run around all his life? It should be like a flying dragon stepping on the snow. Occasionally, it would leave a few paw prints on the snow, but in a blink of an eye it would fly away again, and it would be hard to remember where the traces were left! Feng Xian has passed away, and his ashes have been placed in the newly built small tower. The wall on which the poem was written has been damaged, so the ink marks on the old poem can no longer be seen.
Do you still remember the hardships of rushing for the exam? Due to the long journey, people and horses were exhausted, and even the lame donkey couldn't bear it.
3. Original text: The pear blossoms are pale white, the willows are deep green, and the catkins fly all over the city. A single snow plant in the melancholy east column makes life so clear.
From: "Donglan Pear Blossom" by Su Shi of the Song Dynasty
Interpretation: The pear blossoms are as white as snow, the willow trees have grown lush, and the pear blossoms have also grown when the catkins are flying. Open all over the city. My mood is melancholy, just like the pear blossom as white as snow in the east column. It lives in the world and is pure. I see this complicated worldly life so thoroughly and clearly.
4. Original text: Sing loudly when you gain, and stop when you lose, and worry and hate are also long. If you have wine today, you will be drunk today, and you will be worried tomorrow.
From: Tang Dynasty Luo Yin's "Self-dispatch"
Interpretation: When you get it, sing loudly. If not, let him go. You can still be happy despite your sorrow and hatred. If there is wine today, drink as much as you can and get drunk. Tomorrow's worries will have to wait until tomorrow.
5. Original text: During the Qingming festival, peaches and plums smile, but the wild graves only produce sorrow. Thunder shakes the sky and earth, dragons and snakes sting, and rain falls on the grass and trees in the countryside. People beg for sacrifices for their arrogant concubines, and noble men are burned to death for unjust marquises. The wise and foolish have known who they are for thousands of years, and their eyes are full of basil and grass.
From: "Qingming" by Huang Tingjian of the Song Dynasty
Explanation: During the Qingming Festival, peaches and plums bloom with smiles. The overgrown graves in the fields were desolate. The rolling spring thunder awakens the hibernating dragons, snakes and insects; the abundant spring rain moistens the wilderness and turns the vegetation green and soft.
In ancient times, there were Qi people who went to tombs to beg for sacrificial food in order to show off to their wives and concubines, and there was also a Jiezi who refused to become an official and was burned to death. Whether he is a sage or a mediocre person, who will know after a thousand years? In the end, all that is left in the world is nothing but tangled weeds.
