Huizhou Shipyard's History of Huizhou Shipbuilding

There are records of Huizhou's early shipbuilding industry in Huicheng literature and history materials. During the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty, there were private manual workshops in Huizhou. In Guangxu 15 (1889), Su Shanxiu (called Su Laokang) from the south bank of Huizhou built a boat on the Dongjiang River. At first, it only operated in Hengli area, and later moved to the riverside area behind Zhongshan Park to make a living as a fishing boat and repairing wooden boats.

19 18, Guangxi people "Yan Laowu" opened the new Rong Sheng Shipyard under Shuimensha, which opened the prelude of Huizhou's modern shipbuilding industry. At first, there were only 24 people in the New Rong Sheng Shipyard, but later it increased to over 65,438+000 people. It mainly manufactures sailboats, wooden boats and small boats. Wood is purchased from Heyuan, Laolong, Li Anping and Heping Mountain, most of which are Chinese fir. However, the good times did not last long. 1938, when the Japanese invaded Huizhou, the shipyard was forced to close and the workers scattered.

There used to be 500 employees

Since the founding of New Rong Sheng Shipyard, the development of Huizhou shipbuilding industry has ushered in the first spring. During the period of 192 1 ~ 1925, there were seven or eight shipyards that manufactured and repaired Dongjiang wooden sailboats in Huizhou, and the larger shipyards had dozens of workers.

During the period of 1940 ~ 1945, Huizhou's shipping industry and shipbuilding industry were unprecedentedly developed. At that time, there were only 100 ships sailing to Huizhou, and there were thousands of wooden barges distributed all over Dongjiang. According to the records of Huiyang County, 194 1 year, Huiyang County has 15 shipyards with 325 employees, producing 600-900 wooden boats every year, and the shipbuilding industry has begun to take shape. At that time, only 17 county in Guangdong province had shipyards, among which Huiyang and Qujiang shipyards were the most. On the eve of liberation, Huizhou shipbuilding industry had 500 employees.

Why did Huizhou shipbuilding industry usher in great development during the Anti-Japanese War? This is closely related to Dongjiang shipping at that time. During the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression period, in order to defend against Japanese aggression, Huizhou's roads leading to various places were destroyed, and ships and wooden barges became the main means of transportation at that time. After the fall of Guangzhou, Huizhou became the main distribution center of imported goods and mainland native products, and the water transportation was very busy. There were eight shipyards in the early days of liberation.

With the victory of the war of liberation, some big merchants in Huizhou moved to Hong Kong one after another, and their business activities almost stopped, which also led to the stagnation of Huizhou shipbuilding industry. At the beginning of the founding of the People's Republic of China, there were only eight shipyards in Huizhou, most of which were located along the Yangtze River from Xizhijiang Bridge to Dongxinqiao Bridge and along the East River of the Bridge (now along the Yangtze River Road). These shipyards are privately run, with no regular workers. They usually work in the open air by the river and build wooden boats.

All parts of the province go to Huizhou Shipyard to order.

1950 Shipbuilders organized Huizhou Workers' Shipbuilding Cooperative, with only eight people at the beginning. Soon, the number of workers increased to 36, and the cooperative was also transformed into a workers' shipyard, building wooden fishing boats, fireboats and rubber boats.

1In April, 954, the Workers' Shipyard merged with private shipyards such as Gu Kuanji, Huanggen and Yuheji to form a public-private joint venture Huizhou Shipyard, located at Shuimen Road (now Huizhou Shipyard). At that time, there were more than 60 employees in the whole factory, and the production tools were only a simple boat raft, 8 jacks and several shrimps.

At the beginning of 1960, Huizhou Shipyard, a public-private partnership, was accepted by Huiyang Regional Shipping Bureau, and the original wooden boat was changed from 1969 to steel boat. 1979165438+10, the factory was listed as one of the 100 enterprises in Guangdong province to expand enterprise autonomy. Since then, the shipyard equipment has been continuously updated, and the labor productivity and product quality have been continuously improved. For a long time, except Huizhou, Guangzhou, Shaoguan, Nanhai, Panyu, Shunde and other places have come to the factory to book ships.
