(International Badminton Federation, IBF)
Abbreviated as International Badminton Federation, it was founded in 1934 by Canada, Denmark, England, France, Ireland, Netherlands, New Zealand, Scotland and Wales. As of 2011, there are 163 association members. The official working language is English.
The mission of the International Badminton Federation is to popularize and develop badminton in the world, strengthen ties between national badminton associations, and organize the Olympic Games, World Championships, World Cups and other international competitions.
The 2006 International Badminton Federation General Assembly passed a resolution on the 24th to change the official name of the "International Badminton Federation (IBF)" to the Badminton World Federation (BWF). The new Badminton World Federation headquarters is located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
In 2013, at the Badminton World Federation annual meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Danish Larsson, the 1996 Atlanta Olympic champion and chairman of the European Badminton Association, defeated Indonesian candidate Suhadina by 145 votes to 120 votes. Ta, was awarded the position of the next president of the Badminton World Federation, with a term of four years.
