Psalm 13 is explained section by section.

Psalm 13 is explained as follows:

1, 1-2 desperate sigh

(A poem by David, for the music director. Lord, how long will you forget me? Will it last forever? How long will you hide your face from me?

I thought to myself, how long am I going to be sad all day? How long will my enemies rise up and suppress me?

Explanation: "Will it last forever?" It means continuous forgetting, that is, God. Will you forget me completely? God promised to give David the throne of Israel, but the day of the throne is still far away. Saul did something bad and God didn't judge him. David did a good deed, but he was abandoned. Sam, 20: 3? Although the enemy's behavior worried David, God seemed indifferent, and David felt abandoned by God.

Two, three struggling to look up

O Lord my God, look after me and answer me, and make my eyes bright, lest I sleep till I die.

Explanation: People often feel forgotten and ignored by God. I feel that God is ignoring and not listening to prayer. Especially when you encounter many difficulties and pains, this feeling is even more intense. We are contradictory, and the inner struggle is fierce, which makes us more miserable. If you think that God has forgotten you, you must never give up praying to God, continue to ask God to look after you, ask God to answer your prayers and tell God your worries and fears.

Three, four struggled to look up

Lest my enemy say, I have overcome him. Lest my enemies rejoice when I tremble.

Explain: Tell God that you are afraid that your spirit will be depressed, your enemies will crush you, and your confidence will be shaken. Tell God the truth of your heart, don't hide it, don't pretend to be strong. When we feel that God is ignoring us, that is when we continue to pray to him and when we need to tell him our feelings and facts. This is our only way out!

4, 5 Happy singing

But I trust in your lovingkindness, and my heart rejoices in your salvation.

Interpretation: Although the poet experienced deep depression, he didn't give up and his feet didn't slip. He keeps God's covenant and trusts in God's love. Kindness is the core of the Bible. Saints often say that "kindness" and "Covenant" are put together, which shows that the two sides of the Covenant treat each other with loyal love. The poet's transition from questioning to trusting and from complaining to joy is based on God's mercy, which is the basis of confidence and hope.

5, 6 Happy singing

I will sing to the LORD, for he has treated me with great kindness.

Explanation: He believes that God will keep his promise. He looked at God and counted his grace. He felt at ease when he thought of God's love. He rejoiced at the thought of God's constant salvation. He also recalled that God had great grace in his past, so he couldn't help singing to God.
