A word dowry
He, a famous poet and calligrapher in Qing Dynasty, specially sent a box from Beijing after learning that his daughter was preparing a dowry. On the wedding day, my daughter Chun Mei opened the box, and the whole family was startled. It turned out that the box was empty, but the bottom of the box was neatly written with a big word-"diligence". The young couple quickly understood their father's good intentions, so a word dowry became the motto of the family.
One-word letter from home
In the early 1960s, the great writer Zhao Shuli received a letter from his eldest son, Zhao Guangyuan, asking him for money. The content of the letter is very concise: "money!" Unexpectedly, Zhao Shuli's reply was not only quick but also refined: "0!" He thinks that since his son is self-reliant, he should no longer rely on his parents, which shows that Zhao Shuli has taught his son well.
Word judgment
In the Qing Dynasty, a widow wanted to remarry, but was stopped by her neighbors and family. So, he wrote to the court: "Cardamom is young, few and few, Weng Shangzhuang, uncle and old, and people are here. Should he get married? " In a few words, the reason for remarriage was explained. When the magistrate of a county received the letter, he was surprised and wrote with a pen: "Marry!"
A written editorial
1In April, 968, the American Star Times published an editorial "Johnson gives up", in which there was only one word: "Wonderful!" It expresses the attitude of the newspaper and the class it represents very clearly, which is really intriguing.
Answer in one sentence
A jealous man wrote a letter to Hemingway, a famous American writer: "I know that you are worth a word of gold now, and I attach a dollar." Please send a sample to have a look. " Hemingway accepted the dollar and wrote back: "Thank you!"
Word aphorism
Mr. Lu Xun 12 years old, studying in his hometown of San Tan Yin Yue. Once, because he was late for school to help his mother, the strict teacher Shou Jason Wu severely criticized him. In order to learn lessons and be strict with himself, he carved a word with a knife in the lower right corner of the desk as his motto-"Good morning".
One-word poem song
North Island once wrote a poem called Life, which contained only one word: "Net."
One-word novel
An American university once held an essay contest for micro-novels, and as a result, a novel "After the First Love Letter was Sent" won the highest prize. The novel has only one word: "Wait ……", which is really memorable.
Interpret the word "fu" with great interest.
Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty was a knowledgeable and quick-thinking man. He often talks with ministers and scholars around him about the past and the present, poetry and prose.
On one occasion, Gan Long and Prime Minister Zhang Yushu visited Jiangnan and saw a farmer working in the field. They jokingly asked Premier Zhang Yushu, "Who is this?" The Prime Minister replied, "This is a farmer." "How do you write the words of farmers?" Zhang Yushu, the prime minister, said smoothly: "Two horizontal lines, one on the left and one on the right, the husband of sedan chair, the husband of Confucius, the husband of husband and wife and the husband of man, are all written in this way."
Gan Long shook his head and said, "You, the prime minister, can't even tell a word from a husband." Zhang Yushu heard the emperor's reprimand and quickly stepped forward as a prelude: "I don't know how young people are, please ask the emperor for advice."
At this time, Emperor Qianlong explained, "The farmer is an excavator, and it is written with earth characters and herringbone characters on it. The porter carries a pole on his shoulder. After writing, add two poles. Confucius knows astronomy above and geography below. The word "fu" is written in the first place. Husband and wife are two people, write first, then add herringbone. A man is a gentleman, this word is written first and then enlarged. "
Anecdote of response words
The response words in the dialogue of the characters in the new TV series "The History of the Three Kingdoms" are mostly "yes", so some people on the Internet commented that this "yes" is "shocking". Why not use "yes"? "Lei" is a new slang in Chinese, which means "too shocked to accept". In fact, in the Three Kingdoms period, people usually responded with "promise" instead of "yes", and the use of "promise" in TV dramas was more in line with the language characteristics at that time. What's so shocking about this? Sixty-one times in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms wrote: "Sun Quan and Nuo Nuo repeatedly replied," How dare you disobey my mother's orders? It can be seen that what Sun Quan said in his reply was "promise, promise, promise". The Warring States Policy, which was compiled 2000 years ago, shows that the ancients in China responded with "promise" very early. For example, in the Warring States Policy Si Qi, it was written as follows: "Meng Changjun was very unhappy and said," Say yes, sir, and have a rest. 』"
In fact, the response word "Zha" is "Lei", but we are all used to it because there are so many TV dramas in the Qing Dynasty. As soon as the emperor said what I wanted, those officials (especially eunuchs) immediately bowed down and "tied" "tied". This "Zha" is a transliteration of Manchu "je", which originated from Mongolian. It is a servant's response to his master, and a slave's response to his master. Its timidity is more serious than "passive Nuo Nuo". If there is a word in the world that can fully express social inequality and the relationship between man's rule and being ruled, humiliation and humiliation, slavery and slavery, it is "tie". Although this response language disappeared with the demise of the Qing Dynasty, leaving only the word "Zha" (the chirping of magpies), it seems that it will take more time to eliminate social inequality.
The Qing emperor brought "Zha", and they were willing to learn Chinese themselves, but they often didn't go home. I have read some imperial edicts of the Qing Dynasty in the library. They don't write "read" or "finish reading", they just write "know", which is very colloquial. Gan Long wrote more than 40,000 poems in Chinese in his life, more than all the Tang poems, but he didn't become a poet in the end.
"Hi", besides being an exclamation, is also used as a response word in some areas of our country, but because its pronunciation is similar to "hi" (meaning "hi") in Japanese, people don't use it very much now. The suffering and hatred brought by that war are still reflected in many aspects.
There are also "Wei" and "Ran" in ancient Chinese response words. For example, Zuo Zhuan wrote: "Fucha! And forgot to kill his father? " Yes: "Only. Dare not forget. " The Analects of Confucius wrote: "Is it a disciple of Lu?" Yes: "Of course." Obviously, the words "passive", "passive Nuo Nuo" and "natural promise" are all related to the response words "passive" and "natural".
The most commonly used reply words today are "yes", "right", "line" and "good", which are equivalent to "yes", "line" and "right" in English. Some of us China people who live in the United States are used to saying the variant "yah" of "yes" after Americans, not because we envy foreign things, but because its pronunciation is really easier than "yes", just as "bye-bye" is easier than "goodbye". Southerners in China always find it a little difficult to pronounce the name "Yes". I come from Shanghai and have lived in Beijing for many years, but I remember when I was a child in Shanghai, the response word I used was not "yes" but "alas", not a sigh, but a promise. Even "Zhuangzi" has been used for a long time, and its chapter "Knowing the North" reads: "Alas, let me know."
Interesting story in Chinese: only clothes, not people.
During the Qianlong and Jiaqing years of the Qing Dynasty, Meng Xi 'ou of Luoyang, whose real name was Luling, was good at painting and calligraphy, and was called a talented person in Luoyang at that time.
One day, he went to see a tailor because of something. The tailor was busy with the operation. Seeing that he was dressed normally, he was very cold to him. When Meng Xi 'ou saw that the tailor was busy, he said to come back later. Someone told the tailor, "He is the famous Menchio!" The tailor was surprised and regretful. After a while, Meng Xiou came, and the tailor turned his back, saluted and said, "Mr. Wen is a good poet, so he dares to ask me for a masterpiece." Meng Xiou pondered a little and said, "A tailor can't do without a needle. Just take the needle as the topic: a steel needle, shiny, can be held in your hand. Eyes on the ass only recognize clothes and not people. "
Four Notes on Guo Moruo's Characters
Clever alignment of embedded couplets
General Chen, who participated in the "December 28th" War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression in Shanghai and Shanghai, is true. He was a disciple of Gui, a famous Buddhist at that time, and he was very good at Buddhism.
During his stay in Wuhan from 65438 to 0938, he was the director of the Political Department of the Military Commission of China Government in Chen Ren. One day, he and Li, Huang Qixiang and Yu Xinqing went to visit Guo Moruo, director of the Third Hall of the Political Department, and talked and laughed with Guo Moruo, who was grinding ink and writing. Chen Dao: "I heard that Brother Muruo is good at inserting couplets, so I have to thank you today. Someone embedded my word' as true as' in Sanskrit for two sentences, but there was no bottom line. Please also use Sanskrit in the bottom couplet of the Ruzi. " Guo Moruo said with a smile: "You are deliberately looking for trouble. I haven't dabbled in Sanskrit for many years, and I have no books to refer to. How can I be right? " When Li, Huang and Yu saw this elegant thing, they told Chen Kuainian to read couplets and said that Brother Mo Ruo was good. Chen then read out the first part of the book, "It's true that someone is ancient and really kills people", and embedded two mantras. Guo Moruo cocked his head and thought for a moment. He said to him, "If I am a Buddha, this is the Tathagata." He also embedded two words, which naturally became a perfect match. Everybody clap together. He also asked to write a banner, but Guo didn't refuse, so he waved it off.
After the National Government moved to Chongqing, Guo Moruo fell ill. Chen Lai visited him and talked with Guo Moruo about Gui's death poem full of Buddhist philosophy, and took the opportunity to ask Guo to re-embed words. Guo Moruo thought for a moment and wrote that "truth is only Marxism, and Tathagata is Mr. Gui 'an Baili". The word "true as true" is embedded in the case of Heding. The first part expresses the firm belief in Master Marx, and the second part mourns Mr. Gui. Although it is clear, it is neat and appropriate.
Xiao San Guo Moruo cooperated with Julian.
196 1 In March, poet Xiaosan visited South China Tropical Crops Research Institute and South China Tropical Crops Institute in Dan County, Hainan Island. At that time, both units were in the initial stage and the conditions were very poor. Teachers and students are studying in class while opening up land for building houses. Moved by the spirit of self-reliance and hard struggle of teachers and students, Xiaosan began to write a cloud:
Poetry production, poetry song production, poetry writing in tropical crop areas, poetry is the most popular;
This is the first couplet of a couplet. Xiaosan left the second couplet blank and wrote a postscript: "I hope there will be smart people to do the second couplet in the future." Coincidentally, three days later, Guo Moruo also came here to visit. After reading the first part, he went on to make the second part:
Labor teaching and research, teaching and research work, red flag teaching, class red.
Clever interpretation of strange words
In the late 1950s, several Japanese scholars came to China to climb Mount Tai, and the scenery along the way made them linger and admire. Cross the Red Gate, cross Wanxian Building, and head north. The natural scenery is excellent. The stone wall on the west side of the road is engraved with the word "two", which has aroused great interest of Japanese scholars. They asked the accompanying China scholars what these two strange words meant. This really stumped everyone present.
Japanese scholars will still ask about the pronunciation and meaning of "two" after traveling around the mountains. Therefore, China scholars turned to books and consulted experts and professors in many ways, but they could not get satisfactory results. Later, someone found the Chinese Academy of Sciences with these two words and asked Guo Moruo. Guo read these two words, pondered for a moment, and added two strokes to the word "two", which became "romantic". Guo Moruo said with a smile, "These two words should be pronounced as" boundless wind and moon ",but they are just word games of ancient celebrities."
Change poetry to save girls
/kloc-in the autumn of 0/962, Guo Moruo visited Putuo Mountain in the South China Sea. In Brahma Cave, he picked up a notebook and opened it. There is a couplet on the title page: "Disappointed every year, I can't find it everywhere"; The horizontal batch is "Where is spring?" Turning over a page, it turned out to be a desperate poem, and this day was marked. Lao Guo was very anxious after reading it, and immediately sent someone to find the owner. Finally found the owner, a girl with a sad face. Her name is Li. Because she failed in the college entrance examination three times and her love was frustrated, she decided to "return to Putuo". Lao Guo patiently enlightened her and said to her, "This pair of couplets shows that you have a certain level of education, but the bottom couplets and horizontal comments are too depressing. This is not good. I'll change it for you. What do you think? " The girl nodded, and Guo changed her mouth: "Disappointed every year, everything is difficult"; Horizontal batch: "Spring is in my heart".
The girl listened admiringly. I think the elder in front of me must be a learned chief. He poured out all his troubles. Lao Guo listened and wrote a couplet:
"Where there is a will, there is a way, cross the rubicon, 120 Qin Guan will eventually return to Chu; Hard-working people live up to expectations, and 3 thousand armor can swallow Wu. "
Publish Pu Songling's Self-encouragement Meeting. Li read it carefully, as if he saw the heroic scene of Chu overlord burning his bridges and breaking; It seems that I saw the scene of Gou Jian, the King of Yue, eating his bread and his intestines to destroy the shame of the martial arts point. I thought that Pu Songling was not depressed, but worked hard to create the immortal masterpiece Strange Tales from a Lonely Studio ... Isn't this couplet the best footnote of "Nothing is impossible"? The girl asked Lao Guo to sign this couplet. After Lao Guo wrote the words "Guo Moruo,1autumn of 962", the girl was pleasantly surprised to know that the portrait in front of her was Guo Moruo, a great writer! She said excitedly that she would always remember her teachings and forge ahead on the road of life. Li also got the nerve to write a poem, thanking Guo Laoyun:
I hesitated a few times before Brahma Cave, trying to make friends with Wang Yang, but the wonderful pen actually hides the power of rejuvenation. Thank my teacher for saving me from getting lost.
