In the process of development from Romanticism to Modernism, two important poets were produced: Gregorio Gutiérrez (1826-1872) and Rafael Pomvo ( 1833-1912); the former's works include "Memories of Planting Corn in Antioquia" (1869); the latter is not only a poet describing love and ideal women, but also the author of beautiful children's poems.
Other famous writers of this period include Rufino Jose Cuervo (1844-1911) and Miguel Antonio Caro (1843-1909).
