Original text appreciation: this poem From looking up at the stars, I feel the awe of the Eternal, the emotion of the short life and some vague helplessness. The author associates the starlight on a cloudless midsummer night with the fireflies shining in the night. From fireflies, we associate it with palace lanterns, and with the palaces of the Tang Dynasty where palace lanterns were everywhere.
The author uses the same allusion as Zhuangzi (Zhuang Zhou), the originator of Taoism, "Zhuang Sheng was obsessed with butterflies in his dawn dream", dreaming about fireflies, and through the "dream" of "fireflies", he enters a dreamland where time and space are blurred.
