Poetry used to be very popular, but is it a "dead end" now?

I don't know whether the subject is talking about China's traditional poetry or modern poetry, so I answer them separately.

First of all, traditional poetry. China ancient poetry art can be said to have reached the peak of poetry. Poets such as Qu Yuan, Li Bai, Du Fu and Bai Juyi are famous at home and abroad, especially in the Tang Dynasty, where there are tens of thousands of poets alone, not to mention the poems left behind. But in modern times, ancient poems are no longer popular. It seems that no young people will settle down to read these ancient poems unless they are in Chinese textbooks. In fact, this is inseparable from the movement of 100 years ago. Since the popularization of vernacular Chinese, people have become accustomed to speaking, writing and reading vernacular Chinese. These complex ancient poems are naturally neglected, but don't worry, because the poems are so beautiful, people who love ancient poems are still coming, and these cultures will continue to spread. ?

In addition, it seems that modern people no longer write ancient poems. First, writing them is not satisfactory. Second, the ancients have written all the themes, and it is difficult for contemporary people to write excellent or better works, so no one simply writes.

As for modern poetry, in the 1970s and 1980s, a large number of outstanding poets emerged in China, such as Kitajima, Gu Cheng and Shu Ting, and there were even rumors that Kitajima had nominated Nobel Prize in Literature. In fact, this is inseparable from the times at that time. In this era, the pace is lively and life is busy. It is difficult for anyone to calm down and read and write poetry, and natural modern poetry is relatively declining.

But we should also rest assured that poetry is a literary form with life and temperature. Destined to be unpopular and lonely, just like the poet himself. No matter how lonely you are, you will always exist in this world.
