Here, I would like to carefully recommend a series of monographs "A Man's Poetry History" by the poet Liu Chun to literary researchers and ordinary readers. Why be so careful? The reason is simple: if a reader wants to know about the life and writing situation of a generation of poets after "Today School", the best reader is definitely these two wonderful books written by Liu Chungang.

From the stylistic point of view, these two books can be described as "four dissimilarities" by the author himself: they are not only the story of the poet's growth, but also the close reading of his works, and the introduction of the poetic situation ... Further, they are like comments, biographies (broken pieces) and news, just as the author summarized them in Postscript: "It is an essay collection. The dozens of poems quoted in the book are enough to constitute an excellent poetry anthology. " Such a complicated style melts in one furnace, so it needs a core to stabilize it and make all styles of writing rotate with it. What kind of core is this? It is the core of the essay, that is, the ideological, academic and convincing "experimental" flash in the fragment (which is also the difference between the essay and the prose), thus eliminating the sensibility that the prose emphasizes. This entertaining essay style combines literariness, thoughtfulness and scholarship, which not only provides a unique writing style, but also indicates another writing landscape. Liu Chun's two books are just following this style and scenery.

The two books are woven from case studies and the whole poetry field of an era. They always write the "growth history and spiritual history" of ten poets, including Gu Cheng, Haizi, Yu Jian, Zhang Zao, Ouyang Jianghe, HanDong and Xichuan (Liu Chunyu). In these essays, "history" is one of the key points. Liu Chun, with the vision of a historian, first set out to deal with the basic biographical materials of each poet. Among them, the author's tailoring skills, that is, what is important and what is not; What is important should be highlighted and what is secondary should be omitted. After that, how can these materials be naturally integrated with the quoted poems and just right comments, and there is a potential ideological and tendentiousness running through them? All this comprehensive work, Liu Chun has been done smoothly and seamlessly. In addition, because the author has been engaged in journalism for a long time, he naturally brings out a special sense of news scene and in-depth reporting in his writing. These unexpected qualities are undoubtedly the icing on the cake for the already rich styles of these two books, and they are all memorable to read. At the same time, due to the proper intervention of "news", these two books are more practical, reliable and full, and they have a scientific accuracy, which really deserves the sentence "Poetry is unique".

For this reason, I call this writing a commentary-style essay writing. This flexible and alert essay is very beautiful and extremely durable to read. Its information and the author's insights are not only very practical for relevant researchers, but also will be pleasing to ordinary readers. Through these two books, they can fully understand a history of poetry. I often feel that I follow the author's words all the way down and enjoy the different scenery along the way, that is, the different aspects of each poet: poetry or life or inner throb.

speaking of which, I have been friends with Liu Chun for nearly ten years, but I have never met him so far. The first contact was a letter from him asking me for a manuscript, which seemed to be used in a collection of poems compiled by him. Because I knew him well, I seriously began to rummage through a box and found a poem "The Victim" written in the 198s from a dusty carton. Why did you just choose this one to send to him? That's because I think this manuscript has the best appearance: from the messy changes, you can clearly see the tracks or nicks produced by a poem. Since then, I have read his poems, some of which have left a deep impression on him. He is a serious, strict and ambitious poet who writes in a classical spoken language. Later, I read a large number of his essays, many of which were written by contemporary poets, and at that time, these essays had already shown his outstanding form of commentary essays. From these essays, I found his broad poetic vision and taste. Therefore, I think his exposition in A Man's Poetic History is solid and credible.
