Chronic prostatitis

Prostatitis is an inflammatory change in the prostatitis caused by non-specific infection, which is clinically divided into acute and chronic.

This disease is mostly caused by cold-dampness and blood stasis, qi stagnation and blood stasis, and sperm stagnation. It belongs to the categories of "turbid essence" and "labor stranguria" in traditional Chinese medicine.

Although the disease is not serious, it has "brought countless heroes to their knees"

Western medicine divides prostatitis into the following four types:

Type I (acute) Bacterial prostatitis): manifests as sudden onset, chills, fever, accompanied by obvious frequent urination, urgency, dysuria, and even hematuria;

Type II (chronic bacterial prostatitis): manifests as repeated Symptoms of frequent urination, urgency, and painful urination;

Type III (chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome): manifests as chronic pain in the pelvic area, with or without frequent urination and urgency. , dysuria;

Type IV (asymptomatic prostatitis): no symptoms.

Among them, chronic prostatitis (type III) is the most common, and it has always been known for its "long-term treatment, unrecoverable and recurring attacks", "attracting the defeat of countless heroes."

Why does prostatitis cause urinary problems?

The urine produced by the human body enters the bladder little by little and is stored, and gradually the bladder becomes full. "Boss, I can't hold it anymore, let's release the water quickly!" As soon as the brain commander received the signal from the bladder, he ordered the internal urethral sphincter to open the gate immediately, and the urine was discharged from the body along the urethra. Wow...relaxed and smooth! This is a normal urination process.

So, what will happen to urination if you have prostatitis?

Once the prostate becomes inflamed, it will swell into a big fat man, which will inevitably put pressure on the bladder. At the same time, prostatitis will produce some harmful substances, in order to prevent the accumulation of harmful substances in the urethra.

The body will constantly notify the brain: Please flush the urethra in time! As a result, symptoms of frequent urination and urgency appear.

The enlarged prostate presses the outlet of the bladder and pinches the urethra tightly, forcing the urethra to breathe, and the main urinary tract is blocked.

At the same time, during the process of flushing the urethra, those harmful substances will stimulate the urethra, and subsequently, problems such as painful urination and difficulty in urination will appear.

Why is the treatment effect of prostatitis poor?

In Western medicine, any local congestion, exudation or proliferation caused by various causes is called inflammation. Antibiotics are generally used in clinical practice to reduce inflammation.

Although prostatitis is an inflammation, less than 10% is caused by direct or indirect bacterial infection, namely type I and type II.

For these two types of prostatitis, clinical diagnosis must rely on regular prostate massage fluid routine examination and bacterial culture, and the possibility of urinary tract bacterial contamination or vaginal bacteria must be ruled out.

Due to the special anatomical structure of the prostate, the local blood-prostate barrier, and the increased local tension of the diseased prostate, it is difficult to reach the affected area with antibiotics alone.

Secondly, clinically, most cases of prostatitis are chronic prostatitis, namely type III, which is caused by local congestion of the prostate caused by a variety of pathogenic factors. There is no bacterial infection.

Therefore, it cannot be solved by antibiotics. If treated with antibiotics alone, it will not only be difficult to obtain satisfactory curative effect, but long-term use may also lead to bacterial imbalance and damage to the acquired spleen and stomach.

Three pathogenesis of chronic prostatitis

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that there are three main pathogenesis of chronic prostatitis:

1. Deficiency (kidney deficiency is not solid) : Due to the gradual deficiency of kidney qi and the lack of solidification of the lower yuan, the seminal chamber gradually becomes weak and the triple burner qi is unfavorably transformed. In addition, the Qi of the lung and spleen is weakened, resulting in abnormal function of the seminal chamber and bladder.

2. Dampness (dampness and heat in the lower burner): Dampness and heat invades the lower burner, accumulates in the bladder, spreads to the seminal chamber, and mixes with the semen, turning the true semen into waste sperm. The waste sperm becomes turbid and stagnant in the seminal tract, leading to disease. .

3. Blood stasis (blood stasis in the seminal tract): The pathological characteristics of prostatitis are congestion, edema, exudation, and hyperplasia of the prostate and pelvis, and even increased secretion of prostate acinar, fibrous tissue hyperplasia, and glandular tubule obstruction. Etc., these are all blood stasis in traditional Chinese medicine.

The prostate is an important part of the seminal tract. Blood stasis occurs in the seminal tract, leading to frequent prostate malfunctions.

It can be seen from the above that the key to the pathogenesis of chronic prostatitis is the obstruction of spermatozoa caused by kidney deficiency, dampness and heat, and blood stasis. Therefore, the treatment of chronic prostatitis should be based on the principles of "deficiency, dampness, and Syndrome differentiation and treatment based on the three cardinal principles of "blood stasis":

Deficiency (kidney deficiency) - nourishing the kidneys and strengthening essence, warming the kidneys and clearing yang;

Dampness (dampness and heat) - diuresis, treating stranguria, and clearing the phase of diarrhea Fire;

Blood stasis (blood stasis) - promoting qi and relieving pain, removing blood stasis and removing turbidity. Starting from these three directions and unblocking the Jingdao, the illness will heal itself.

The liver governs tendons, and the tendons of the liver surround the yin organ, and the front yin is where the tendons gather; the kidney stores essence, governs reproductive development, and opens in the front and back yins. Therefore, the acupoint selection for moxibustion must be based on the liver meridian and kidney meridian.
