Zhao Mengfu borrowed from Wang Xianzhi's Luo Shen Fu and Wang Xizhi's Huang Ting Jing in lower case, while Wang Xianzhi's Thirteen Lines of Luo Shen Fu once belonged to his collection, and it has been close to hundreds of copies of Luo Shen Fu, so it has won its charm. His works handed down from generation to generation include Han Ji 'an Biography, Qin Lun, Heart Sutra, Tao Te Ching, Huang Ting Sutra, Yin Fu Sutra and Diamond Sutra. Ni Zan said, "Zi Ang writes fine print, which is beautifully tied, and he hits it hard with a pen. It' s really a shame for people in the Sui and Tang Dynasties. "
In the fourth year of Dade (1300), Yi Min wrote The Ode to Luoshen, which shows that Zhao Mengfu's calligraphy style has reached a very high level. He is good at writing Luo Shenfu. While imitating Wang Xianzhi's brushwork, in order to express the realm of this article as vividly as possible, he also changed to running script.
Written in the fifth year of Dade (1306), Luo Shen Fu and Qianhouchi Fu Bi show Zhao Mengfu's elegant style. They are appropriate in density, consistent in book order, implicit and powerless, and calm as iron from beginning to end. When I arrived at a happy place, such as the second half of the Five Elements Fu, I walked out of the grass, scribbled casually and followed the law.
Zhao Mengfu's most representative work is Thirteen Prefaces to Lanting Collection. In the autumn of the third year (13 10), Zhao Mengfu was invited to visit Dadu in the north. He enjoyed the Dingwu Lanting given to him by the lonely monk on the canal boat. If he has any experience, write it on the tail paper and post it on Lanting. This is the famous postscript of Lanting Thirteen. This post is vigorous.
Laozi's Classic of Tao Te Ching, Monument to Danba Emperor and Ode to Wine Morality are his masterpieces in his later years. They are all cooperative books, one is big, the other is running script, and the other is small. Among them, The Monument to the Danba Emperor is a tablet with lines in the script, which shows a unique charm in neatness. Tao Te Ching is a small regular script with meticulous stippling and strict statutes. Because of its random font size and elegant brushwork, people don't feel embarrassed when enjoying it. The number of volumes of lower case Hokkekyo is the same as that of the previous post, which was created at the same time or a year or two later. There are more than 10,000 words in Lotus Sutra and 5,000 words in Tao Te Ching, but the two books are consistent from beginning to end without any slack, which fully shows the depth of Zhao Mengfu's skill.
His running script Ode to a Wine Virtue is quite bold, as Bao said, "There are twists and turns in coming and going", and it is all being changed. The brushwork is thin and red, fat and boneless. It is free and easy for Xiao Wang and beautiful for a king, but it shows the true face of the family. Painters in Ming and Qing Dynasties wrote inscriptions for it, which were highly praised.
