How can Shi be a beggar?
In August 10, the article "Gao Shi: Beggars Seal Hou" was published in the vertical and horizontal editions, saying that Gao Shi wandered in Liang and Song Dynasties and begged for a living, and was over half a year old. Because I met Li Bai and Du Fu, I turned to poetry and became famous in a few years. Gao Shi was circulated in both the old and new Tang Shu, but it was not clear in the early years. However, judging from the poems and contemporary documents before Gao Shi became an official (before the age of 50), it is doubtful that beggars were blocked. First of all, if you work hard, you will have an idyllic life. If you are poor, you will not be a beggar. Gao Shishi said: there are mountains and fields for cultivation, and mountains and wives for spinning. In this case of life, why should we combine? Meeting the Woods is different from Yang's The Seventeenth Mountain Man. I have been firewood for twelve years. Planting melons in the lacquer garden, closing the gates and digging wells (rewarding Li Shaofu for his farewell work on the way) ... all these show that he has certain land. Secondly, Gao Shi has been studying, and the title of the poem is early. Gao Shi said in "Reward Xue Qi for Three Certificates and Send a Message to Guo Shaofu": "Since I left Beijing, my heart has been bleak. Ten years of reading chapters and sentences, Wan Li is empty. " He was about 30 years old at that time. At that time, his poems had been sung by singers in restaurants (about 730 years ago in Kaiyuan, see New Stories). He said in "Sending Taishoufu Li to Pingyin Pavilion in Summer": "I have been a fish all my life, and I still collect fireflies at the age of forty." These are two allusions that Meng Haoran and Che Yin read. The first sentence is that I want someone to quote me as an official, and the second sentence is that I study hard. He was 46 years old at that time, but he didn't brag about himself. Later, the reason why local officials recommended him was: "Gao Shi is studious, famous for his poems, and beautiful sentences are published all over the population." (See Yuan Gui, a bookstore) Among Gao Shi's more than 280 existing poems, 1/3 was written in front of literati, and several of them were selected by previous dynasties. Even fragments of his poems have been found in Dunhuang grottoes, which shows that they are widely spread. In particular, Ge Yanxing, which has been passed down through the ages, was written by him at the age of 38. He met Du Li at the age of 46. How can he say that it took him more than half a century to learn poetry? This famous poet in the Tang dynasty was called "the beggar elder", and Ning Fei abused the ancients? Once again, Gao Shi made friends with many celebrities. "When I was young, there was still dust. Gao Shi has a wide range of friends, many of whom are famous poets or celebrities. This is not his boast. The most famous thing is that he traveled with Li Bai and Du Fu. He also became close friends with Wang Zhihuan and Wang Changling, which is vividly described in the famous "Banner Pavilion Painting the Wall". In addition, he sang with poets such as, Jia Zhi, and followed calligrapher Yan Zhenqing, ancient writers Du and Li Yong. At that time, Gao Shi had no official position. If he is just a beggar's head, will these celebrities in Tang books, those who are very famous in the Tang Dynasty, get a discount? This paper regards Gao Shi as a beggar, which may be a misunderstanding of a sentence in the biography of Gao Shi in the Old Tang Dynasty: "In order to get it from beggars." The original biography of New Book of Tang Dynasty was basically copied from Old Book of Tang Dynasty, but this sentence was deleted, probably because it could not represent Gao Shi's early life. In fact, beggars were called beggars after the Yuan Dynasty. In ancient times, they were called beggars (Mencius, Lv Chunqiu, etc. ), and was called a beggar or beggar in the Tang and Song Dynasties. For example, Yan Shu, the prime minister of the Song Dynasty, moved a lot of books, and his wife ridiculed him as "a beggar moving paint bowls". It was not until the Yuan Dynasty that there was a saying of "nine sons and ten beggars". Beggars were generally verbs in ancient times, but rarely used as nouns. In particular, the word "beggar" has two opposite meanings: "take" and "give". The most famous examples are Chen Lin's Discussion of Cao Ji and Wang Anshi's Wan Yan Shu and Renzong's On Things during the Three Kingdoms Period. Chen Wen said, "Dad Song, the beggar took care of him because he took a fake position." Wang Wen said, "A small official, a peddler and a beggar can do anything." Obviously, it is not a noun, which is different from the current usage. Liu Wei, the author of Old Tang Shu, was born in the late Jin Dynasty, and lived in an era before the Song Dynasty, which is even more impossible for him to understand as a beggar. Begging a beggar means asking for help. For example, Li Guan's "On Dai Li Wei Zhijun's Book in Suzhou" in the Tang Dynasty said that Dai Li "stood on his own feet because of poverty ... poor clothes and food, and beggars borrowed money." Dai Li was a poor scholar, and was punished by the government for tax arrears. Li Guan wrote a letter to plead for him, and as a result, Daicha sold books and pianos to pay taxes. There is only one word difference between "begging for a loan" in the letter and "begging for a loan" in Gao, which should have the same meaning, and "begging" cannot be interpreted as a beggar. In addition, the Biography of Gao Shi says that he began to learn poetry in his fifties. I wonder if it is the mistake of 15 years old. Gao's father is a secretariat of Shaozhou, and his family has a history, so Gao Shi has poems at the age of 20. Shortly after the invention of printing in the Tang Dynasty, most articles were plagiarized or corrupted. There is a precedent, Han Yu's famous "Teacher's Talk": "Li, seventeen years old, is good at ancient Chinese." Early versions were all written as "seventy years old". After repeated textual research, it is considered unreasonable, and it is now changed to "seventeen years".
