Moonlight over the Lotus Pond - Appreciation of Li Shengchun's Calligraphy Art

Wang Yazhou

"Moonlight over the Lotus Pond" is a representative prose work written by Zhu Ziqing, which I still read today It's still so fresh, with a feeling of fresh breeze blowing on your face. Yes, in a slightly noisy space, the time when you can appreciate such scenery and elegance artistically is very rare. However, I am very happy because I am bathing in the moonlight of the lotus pond in my calligraphy space.

Li Shengchun may be a name that is familiar to everyone. This year, his works have frequently appeared in and won awards in the national calligraphy competitions of the Calligraphy Association. He is a new soldier from Shutan, Anhui Province. In the infrequent but profound artistic exchanges, Shengchun's progress in artistic thinking and practice left a deep impression on me, which is beyond imagination. This is based on his sincerity towards art and his humble and prudent mentality. Although Shengchun's living environment was unsatisfactory, it did not shake his sincerity in the art of calligraphy at all. This is a rare and valuable artistic spirit!

We know clearly that the interpretation angles of contemporary art can be described as diversified. Tradition and modernity, delicateness and roughness, tranquility and noisy, etc. are "tempting" for every artist. In particular, it requires careful and conscientious screening and penetration for calligraphers, and the choices faced by calligraphers, especially young calligraphers and painters, are therefore much more difficult. As a calligraphy artist, I always believe that sufficient talent and rich heritage depend on how much calligraphy tradition is absorbed, although this is not the only one. Shengchun's understanding of tradition is positive and cautious. He adopts a typical calligraphy style of the Erwang lineage, which is a calligraphy style that strives to abandon the common diseases of pretentiousness and procrastination. Shengchun named Qizhai and embraced Jinzhai, which shows that his artistic conception is to admire the mystery and elegance of the Wei and Jin Dynasties. In addition, Shengchun also read a large number of books eagerly, went to great lengths to visit teachers and friends, and traveled thousands of miles to view exhibitions. The large number and fine intentions of the ink he wrote during the Wei and Jin Dynasties are enough to show his success from one side. This is one of the secrets of his success. All of this amazes me, but he seems so natural, even a bit chic. Shengchun can achieve today's artistic achievements because of the sharp intake of non-art and the clear perception of non-art. This is Shengchun's success. good fortune. And from Shengchun's words and deeds for art, people can also notice that he has never blasphemed against the art of calligraphy. He is simply guarding a pure spiritual land that belongs to himself and especially to the art of calligraphy.

Shengchun and I have always known each other as book friends, even though he often respectfully brings some of his works for me to review. I remember I once said to Sheng Chun: "Li Keran said to use the greatest skill to fight in, and use the greatest courage to fight out." This sentence is worth pondering. What you do is using the greatest skill to fight in. In Use your own actions to practice the deep meaning of knowing and doing at the same time and accumulating experience. As for whether you can use "the greatest courage to fight" is not something you are considering now. What you need to consider and continue to practice now and in the future is - whether it is really used. "The greatest skill has been scored." To reach a higher state where the appearance is not perfect and the senses are not clear, we still need to study the walking tablets. Thinking about it today, these words should serve as encouragement to all calligraphy lovers including me and Shengchun.

Shengchun's works often make me feel like bathing in the moonlight of a lotus pond because of their clarity. This clarity seems to make people think of a transcendent hermit and a distant forest spring. So I have this intuition, when everyone really walks into the world of calligraphy art in Shengchun, they will definitely have the "clear" feeling of walking into the lotus pond in the summer night with the lotus flowers in full bloom, because of the fragrance of the ink, because of the The tranquility of the breath is due to the gentleness of the style...
