At the end of June, 2005, 1 1, the China calligraphy "Heritage Application" project started. On June 26th, 2007, China Calligraphers Association and China Painting and Calligraphy Institute of China Academy of Fine Arts officially declared the national intangible cultural heritage.

On September 30th, 2009, at the 4th meeting of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for the Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Abu Dhabi, 22 China-declared projects, including China's calligraphy, were approved for inclusion in the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. He said that "China Calligraphy" applied for the United Nations "Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity" and attracted wide attention from calligraphy circles and the whole society.

Not long ago, the fourth session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO deliberated and adopted 76 projects listed in the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, among which "China Calligraphy" was listed.

After 3000 years of continuous inheritance and innovation, China's calligraphy has become a traditional art category with the most China cultural characteristics and rich historical accumulation, deeply loved by people in China and even the world, and has become an important representative symbol of China's traditional culture.

The successful application of "China Calligraphy" fully shows that China calligraphy is a long history, colorful and excellent intangible cultural heritage of mankind, that the government and the whole society attach great importance to the protection of traditional culture, and that the legal circles are unprecedented in unity and strength, which is of great and far-reaching significance.

China Calligraphy, co-edited by China Calligraphers Association and Calligraphy Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Art and published by Rong Baozhai Publishing House, was released at the meeting as a representative work of human intangible cultural heritage.
