According to the official website of China Archeology, Zhongwang Village in Zhe Town, Jiyuan City, Henan Province was Zhong Yao’s hometown. During the Three Kingdoms period, all the people in the village were originally named Zhong, and they were of the same clan as Zhong Yao. After Zhong Yao’s death, , buried at the current location of Zhong Yao's tomb.
Zhong Yao, whose courtesy name was Yuan Chang, was a native of Changshe County, Yingchuan County, Yuzhou (now Changgetong, Xuchang, Henan). He was a famous calligrapher and politician from the late Han Dynasty to the Cao Wei period of the Three Kingdoms.
