Li Sishu in the 28th year of Qin Shihuang (2 19 BC)
2 18cm high and 84cm wide.
Due to age and war, the original stone was burned by wildfire. This stone was carved by Zheng Wenbao according to the rubbings of the original stone in the fourth year of Chunhua, Zhao Guangyi, Song Taizong (AD 993), and Zheng Wenbao inscribed it on the tablet. There are many imitations of Yishan stone carving, and this one is the best.
In the cause of Qin reunification, one of the great achievements is to unify the characters. Chinese characters have a history of more than 4,000 years in China. From the earliest symbols on pottery, Oracle Bone Inscriptions carved on the tortoise shell of animal bones, to the inscriptions on bells and ding, as well as Taishi (Da Zhuan) when he arrived, it was not until Qin Shihuang unified the six countries in 22/Kloc-0 BC that talents such as Li Si began to unify Chinese characters with Xiao Zhuan. Li Si once said: In ancient times, there was a great seal script, which was widely circulated, but because of its age, people could not recognize it. So now delete the complicated strokes, omit the variant characters and improve them into Xiao Zhuan. This is the first reform in the history of China, which has played an important role in the development of China culture.
In the ten years after the unification of China, Qin Shihuang made five long-distance missions to various places in order to strengthen his control over the whole country. In the twenty-eighth year of the King of Qin (2 19 BC), when he visited Yishan in Deng Tao County, the hometown of Qilu, Shandong Province (now southeast of Zoucheng, Shandong Province), he climbed high and looked far, full of passion, and said to his ministers, "Since I am here, I can't help but write an inscription for future generations." Li Si immediately wrote a seal character and sent someone to Stone Mountain. This is the famous "Yishan Stone Carving" in Qin Dynasty.
Li Si's calligraphy was first-class in the Qin Dynasty. He also has a calligraphy theory. When talking about the method of using a pen, he said: write, turn the pen quickly, and fold a picture quickly, like an eagle swooping and hovering. Collecting pens is like swimming for water, and lifting pens is like walking up a mountain. The strokes are light and smooth, natural and elegant, and beautiful. It can be seen from "Yishan Stone Carving" that Lisi's calligraphy is vigorous and smooth, with rounded lines, well-proportioned structure and even stippling thickness, which has both the beauty of patterns and the trend of agility and flying. The superb attainments of calligraphy covered up the antecedents and dispersed the later sages, making it difficult for all the people who wrote Xiao Zhuan to enter its territory and become the best manuscripts for later generations.
