Creation background

This poem is one of the last six quatrains of Wang Zhihuan, a poet in the Tang Dynasty. [9]

The author served as editor-in-chief in Hengshui County, Jizhou (now Hengshui County, Hebei Province) in his early years, and was dismissed soon after being framed. Wang Zhihuan, who was less than 30 years old, lived a life of visiting relatives and friends. When writing this poem, Wang Zhihuan was only thirty-five years old. [3]

Appreciation and evaluation

Poetic artistic conception

The extraordinary ambition of the poet in this poem reflects the enterprising spirit of the people in the prosperous Tang Dynasty. [ 10]

Calligrapher Cui Guowei's Running Script in Heron Pavilion

Write what you see in the first two sentences. "Mountains cover the day" is about mountains, and "All rivers run into the sea" is about water. The poet watched a sunset sink to the endless rolling mountains in front of the building, and Ran Ran disappeared at the end of his vision; I watched the Yellow River roaring south in front of the building and downstairs, then turned east in the distance and flowed to the sea. The poet captured the rivers and mountains of Wan Li with extremely simple and plain language, with a short span of ten words with high image and high generalization, and the picture was broad and distant.

There are two sentences in Du Fu's Song of Wang Zai's Painting Landscape: "Traveling in ancient times, talking about Wan Li recently". Although it is about painting, it can also be used to talk about poetry. These two poems written by Wang Zhihuan's landscape make it possible for Wan Li to be close at hand and Wan Li to be close at hand. [ 1 1]

Write the last two sentences. "But you have broadened your horizons by three hundred miles", a poet's endless desire to explore, wants to see further and see where his eyesight can reach. The only way is to stand higher and "walk up a flight of stairs". It can be inferred from the second half of the poem that the first half was written on the second floor (not the highest floor), and the poet wanted to see the distant scenery as far as possible, and even climbed to the top floor of the building. The word "Lou" at the end also plays the role of a point, indicating that this is a poem about climbing stairs.

This poem seems to describe the process of climbing stairs straightforwardly, but its significance is far-reaching and people can explore it. "A thousand miles" and "the first floor" are imaginary numbers, which are both vertical and horizontal spaces in the poet's imagination. The words "to be poor" and "to be better" contain many hopes and longings. These two poems are not only novel and unexpected, but also very natural and close to the first two poems, thus pushing this poem to a higher level and showing readers a broader vision. It is precisely because of this that these two sentences with simple philosophy have become famous sentences that have been passed down through the ages, and this poem has also become a swan song.

Zhou Fugang said that this poem has the power to transcend time and space. This power is the unity of beauty and philosophy, the harmony of objectivity and subjectivity, and the great artistic reproduction and creation. [ 12- 13]

[Brief analysis]

When Su Shi was demoted from Huangzhou to Ruzhou as the deputy envoy of the Youth League Training, he passed through Jiujiang and visited Lushan Mountain. The magnificent landscape triggered a vigorous and magnificent idea, so I wrote several poems about Lushan Mountain. The title Xilinbi is a summary after visiting Lushan Mountain. It describes the various characteristics of Lushan Mountain, and points out that observation should be objective and comprehensive, and if it is subjective and one-sided, it will not draw a correct conclusion.

The first two sentences, "Looking at the mountain from the side is the peak, and the distance is different", are actually what you saw and heard when you visited the mountain. Lushan Mountain is a hilly and gully mountain with undulating peaks and valleys. Tourists are located in different places and see different scenery. These two sentences summarize and vividly write the various forms of Lushan Mountain.

The last two sentences, "I don't know the true face of Lushan Mountain, but I am only in this mountain", are the experience of reasoning on the spot and talking about traveling to the mountain. Why can't you identify the true face of Lushan Mountain? Because I am in the middle of Lushan Mountain, my vision is limited by the peaks of Lushan Mountain, and I only see one peak, one ridge, one hill and one valley of Lushan Mountain, which is one-sided and inevitably one-sided. This is what you see when you visit the mountains, and it is often the same when you observe things in the world. These two poems are rich in connotation.

Don't laugh at the muddy wine of the farmer. There are many delicious foods to entertain guests in the harvest year.

There are many mountains and rivers, but no way is feasible. Suddenly, I saw a village with dense green willows and bright colors.

You play the flute, I play the drums and celebrate together. The Spring Festival is approaching, and the quaint ancient style remains.

Starting today, if I am allowed to wander in the moonlight, I, a white-haired old man, will also have fun in the dark and knock on Chai Men with a cane.

Make an appreciative comment

This is a simple and natural poem about traveling in a mountain village. With sincere feelings and clear style, the poet described the mountain village scenery and peasant customs, with a strong flavor of life.

This poem vividly depicts the scenery and local customs of the poet's hometown, and is full of rich flavor of life. The first two sentences of the poem, with the kind words of "Don't laugh" and "Enough with chickens and dolphins", show the villagers' sincere attitude towards the guests. The third and fourth sentences in the poem describe the scenery of the mountain village, which has always been awarded to people. In the third sentence, "heavy" and "complex" are synonyms, and together with the word "doubt", they write a chaotic scene of overlapping mountains and rivers; In the fourth sentence, the words "dark" and "bright" set each other off in interest, and together with the word "quiet", they describe a pleasant scene of green trees and flowers. The fifth and sixth sentences of the poem describe the folk customs here, with drums and flutes ringing in unison and simple clothes, which show the poet's praise for simple rural life. In the last two sentences of this poem, the author expresses his feelings. The warm hospitality, beautiful scenery and simple folk customs here make the poet full of enthusiasm, but the poet did not directly describe this mood, but expressed it in another way, saying, "From now on, if you ride leisurely on the moon, you will knock on the door with a cane all night", which shows the strong interest.
