Wang Xizhi was a calligrapher in Jin Dynasty. He also broke through the calligraphy school initiated by Lishu, and his calligraphy was beautiful and liked by the world. Later, people called Wang Xizhi a "book saint". Wang Xizhi's Preface to Lanting was written when he and Xie An, Sun Chuo and others gathered in Shaoxing Lanting for drinking. At that time, they were reciting poems while drinking, and Wang Xizhi suddenly got inspiration and wrote the Preface to the Lanting Pavilion.
The Preface to the Collection of Lanting is only over 300 words, but it describes the beautiful scenery around Lanting and the happy mood of these literati gathering to drink and recite poems. I admire the ancient poets, who can make famous sentences through the ages according to the mood and environment at that time, unlike now, a poem can't be made without holding back for a long time. Later, when Wang Xizhi woke up, he found that his Preface to Lanting was not perfect and had some defects, but he gave it up because it could not be copied.
Therefore, The Preface to Lanting Collection has become the pinnacle of Wang Xizhi's calligraphy, and it has even been regarded as "the best running script in the world" since ancient times. During the reign of Emperor Taizong Li Shimin, he loved the Preface to the Orchid Pavilion very much. Even after his death, he took the Preface to the Orchid Pavilion as his funerary object.
Yan Zhenqing's "Sacrificing a Nephew" was written during the Anshi Rebellion, because Yan Zhenqing and his brother were fighting against the enemy at that time, but they were caught and killed by the enemy, and the Yanshi family died tragically. At that time, Yan Zhenqing was very heartbroken, and wrote "The Manuscript for Sacrificing Nephews", which was the last song of the ages. Later, this work was called the second running script in the world because of its frankness, frankness, shock and fluent writing.
