Why is the word (chicken) next to the word (and)?

Chicken is a simplified word for chicken and chicken. "You" comes from the abbreviation next to "Xi" in the cursive script "Chicken". There are many Chinese characters in cursive script whose radicals are simply shaped like "You", and some of them are adopted as simplified characters after imitation. In addition to "chicken", there are "Han", "Cai", "Guan" and "Sheng". According to the philologist Qiu Xigui, the "you" in these simplified characters is just a writing symbol, which has lost its original function of expressing phonetic radicals or ideographic radicals.
