It seems easier to do than to do. ①
If I had known, it would have been out of date. Buy more Yan Zhi and paint peonies. ②
Note (1) The first sentence is about painting. 2 facial fat: the same as rouge and red pigment.
The misty mountain village and the misty desert beach seem to be just a letter pen.
Smear, who knows the difficulty of creation? If I had known that no one likes to reward, I might as well buy more rouge and draw colorful peonies!
Comments on Ginny Qixin and Xu Yimin: "This is the painter's self-titled poem, which is inconsistent with the painting meaning, but it shows his own views, speaks frankly and complains." "The painter Geng Jie's sentiment and stubborn personality can be seen, and the feeling of disaster is just around the corner: therefore, after reading the first two sentences, I feel happy and sigh for people of insight; After reading the last two sentences, I feel indignant and unfair. This has formed the artistic style of this poem, which is straightforward, euphemistic and ironic. " (Selected Poems of Song Dynasty, p. 264)
Li Tang was a famous painter in Song Dynasty. Hui Zong Dynasty was recruited into the Painting Academy. After Jingkang abandoned his son, he went to Lin 'an (now Hangzhou) and lived in poverty, selling paintings for a living, but no one appreciated him. Later, some eunuchs recognized his paintings, reported them to the court and recommended them to imperial academy (see Yu Fengqing's inscription, calligraphy and postscript in Chronicle of Song Poetry). This poem is his masterpiece when he was down and out.
To understand Li Tang's experience and emotion, we must understand the trend of painting in Song Dynasty. The first sentence and the last sentence of the poem reflect two different painting styles and two aesthetic tastes. "Clouds in the Smoke" is a typical realm of literati painting, and its artistic conception is desolate and elegant. Painting peony, a rich flower, is a beautiful flower-and-bird painting with thick rouge. The opposition between these two painting styles in the painting world is the background of Li Tang's emotion. First of all, in the Five Dynasties, the painting world was divided into two schools: Xu Xi and Yellow. Xu Xi is the Chu Shi of the Southern Tang Dynasty. His works are cold and barren, wild and light as water, with little color and elegant brushwork. Therefore, Su Shi said in his poem: "Xie Jia, the romantic king of Jiangzuo, took calligraphy and painting to the end of the world. But because the plum rain was dark, Xu Xi's ink drops were washed away. " (Postscript of Ten Uncle Jin's Tibetan Paintings in Dongpo Collection, Apricot Flowers) Huang Quan is a major painter, and his paintings are colorful, which is called "powder Dai". So there was a saying in the painting world at that time: "Huang Jiafu, wild." In the early Song Dynasty, due to the need of Song Taizong's advocacy and ornament, beautiful flowers and birds were unique for a while, and Huang Juyi, the son of Huang Quan, was waiting for a letter from the Painting Academy, making him famous all over the world. The school was rejected, and even my grandson had to change his family style to cater to Huang's paintings and enable him to gain a foothold in the painting academy. Of course, Xu Xi's painting method has not been broken. It has been inherited by scholars outside the court, and Hui Chong, one of the nine monks, is a representative. After the mid-Northern Song Dynasty, the styles of calligraphy, painting and poetry were reversed synchronously. The price of Huang Quan's paintings plummeted, but Xu Xi's paintings became more and more famous. Mi Fei's "History of Painting" says that "the yellow spring ... is rich and colorful." It is also said that "the yellow painting is insufficient and easy to copy; Xu Xi's paintings are not easy to copy. " Others such as Yizhou Famous Paintings Record, Dongtian Luqing Collection, Xuanhe Painting Spectrum, etc. , all show this gradual change of painting style and interest. Li Tang is a painter who grew up under the influence of this trend. According to this development trend, Li Tang's paintings should be popular in Lin 'an, but they are not. How do you explain this? It turns out that although literati painting has long been recognized and respected, it is only between literati and officialdom. As for the citizens, they want paintings with bright colors, festive atmosphere or auspicious meanings, and will not spend money on "rain beach in the clouds"! From this point of view, Li Tang's experience is not only the result of the change of painting style, but also the result of the conflict between literati and popular culture.
