The Eight-character Method of China's Calligraphy Rules. Taking the eight-stroke sequence of the word "Yong" as an example, this paper expounds the method of writing in block letters: the point is the side, the side front is steep, and the strokes are placed horizontally, which is enough to close the front; Cross for fun, against the front of the paper, slowly rushing back, not flat with the front; Straight pen is an effort, not too straight. Too straight will be stiff and weak, but it must be straight and look at the curve; The hook is a pin (t √), and the front end of the pen is raised to concentrate the force on the nib; Raising the horizontal is the strategy, the stroke is straight, and the effective force is at the end of the stroke; The dragon left its prey. Starting from the straight stroke, the front is slightly fat, and the force is to be sent; Short skimming is pecking, writing left, fast and sharp; Hold the pen as a brush, fall lightly against the trend, fold the front slowly, and close the front with subtlety. According to legend, it was handed down from generation to generation by the wisdom and courage of Sui Dynasty, and one was written by Wang Xizhi in the Eastern Jin Dynasty or Zhang Xu in the Tang Dynasty. Because this is the basic rule of writing regular script, later generations also call these eight methods calligraphy.
The eight strokes of the word "Yong" are actually the eight strokes of the word "Yong", which represent the general strokes in China's calligraphy, namely "side, joy, anger, gas, strategy, grazing, pecking and tearing", which is clearly explained in Zhu Zongyuan's A Brief History of China Calligraphy.
