Among the four major academies, the one located in Jiangxi is Bailudong Academy.
The four major academies refer to Yingtianfu Academy, Yuelu Academy, Bailudong Academy, and Songyang Academy. The addresses of these four academies are respectively in Shangqiu, Henan, Changsha, Hunan, Jiujiang, Jiangxi, and Zhengzhou, Henan. , they all have a very long history.
1. Bailudong Academy.
Bailudong Academy was the first of the four major academies in the Song Dynasty. It is known as "the number one academy in the country". It was founded in the first year of Shengtian in the Southern Tang Dynasty, and its founder was Li Bo. It is located at the foot of Houping Mountain at the southern foot of Wulaofeng in Lushan Mountain, Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province. It has Zuoyi Mountain in the west and Zhuoer Mountain in the south. It is surrounded by three mountains and has a middle stream (Guandao Creek). There is no noise from the market place, but the beauty of springs and rocks. Famous attractions include: Xianxian Academy, Sage Terrace and Ziyang Academy.
2. Songyang Academy.
Sheng Songyang Academy, formerly known as Songyang Temple, was founded in the 8th year of Taihe in the Northern Wei Dynasty. It is a famous institution of higher learning in ancient China and is historically famous for its Neo-Confucianism. It is located at the southern foot of Songshan Mountain, 2.5 kilometers north of Dengfeng City, Henan Province.
It is the oldest and most influential among the four major academies in China. The main attractions include the three generals, stone carvings, Tang Dynasty stele, etc. In 1936, Chiang Kai-shek came here to visit and dug a 100-meter-deep well here, called Jiang Gong's Well, which is still intact.
3. Yuelu Academy.
Yuelu Academy was founded in the ninth year of Kaibao in the Northern Song Dynasty. The founder was Zhu Dong, the prefect of Tanzhou. Located at the foot of Yuelu Mountain, the last peak of the Seventy-Two Peaks in Nanyue, Changsha, Hunan, the main buildings include 9 buildings including the Teaching Room, the Royal Library, the Xiangshui School Scripture Hall, and the Confucian Temple. The academy also preserves monuments and cultural relics. The Jiangxia Huangxianhele stone seal script nominated by the famous calligrapher Li Yong is known as the Three Uniques. It is a well-preserved ancient academy and is now Changsha City. One of the main attractions for cultural tourism.
4. Yingtianfu Academy.
Yingtianfu Academy, also known as Yingtian Academy and Suiyang Academy, was formerly known as Nandu Academy. It was founded by Yang Cui, a Shangqiu native in the Later Jin Dynasty of the Five Dynasties, in the second year of Dazhong Xiangfu. It is now located in Shangqiu, Henan Province. Located on the south bank of Shangqiu Ancient City, a national 4A-level scenic spot in Suiyang District, the city is the highest institution of learning in the Northern Song Dynasty. It has also become the only academy among ancient Chinese academies that has been upgraded to the Imperial Academy. Famous scenic spots include: Chongsheng Temple, Dacheng Temple, and Yushu Tower.
